I very much enjoyed the first book of this intergalactic series! Prior to reading, I was wondering how it would compare to Old Man’s War b/c I absolutely loved that series. Then of course, they’re Scalzi books, how could I NOT have fun reading them? 😄

So much happening right from the beginning! This book is filled with drama, politics, action, backstabbing and alliances…characters to love and hate and you are entertained the whole way through!

More of a 3.5. I found the concept really interesting and I enjoyed everything about the world building and the flow. I had a lot of trouble connecting with any of the characters to the point I was like… is this YA? how is Kiva an over exaggerated version of a character where her ridiculous cursing adds nothing at all to her character. Curious to see where the rest of the series goes.
