Here Emilia is thrust heavily into Wrath’s world and we get way more page time with the rest of the brothers and their realms/courts (think political machinations but also debaucherous parties to attend!) - Emilia’s playing all sides and we just on the whole find out a lot more about the sort of wider conspiracy of what endgame the first book was playing into - sometimes I lowkey forgot the point was about finding out about her sister’s murder because was just having fun finding out more demon lore and to be honest sometimes there’s a lot of moving parts and info that don’t always feel super related to the murder (… although am sure they are related, just hadn’t got the pay off at that point). There’s also a fab mic drop twist at the end!
Her and Wrath’s sexual tension is off the charts and is in my fave enemies to lovers classic second book stage where they’re clearly obsessed but trying to hide it a bit (as if their every thought isn’t about the other person) and there’s longing touches and glances and eventually tip over into seeeeexy stuff eeee….. He’s also a proactive lover of eating out - a necessity if you’re potentially gonna be with a guy for eternity

i have been reading this book on and off for over a year now, and i genuinely have no idea why it took me this long. every time i get back into it i don’t understand why i stopped reading it (i still don’t know why), i become so invested and then comes a point where i accidentally just forget about it for a few months AND I DONT UNDERSTAND HOW THAT WORKS AT ALL BECAUSE THIS BOOK DESERVES 5 STARS. a book has to be absolutely amazing to keep my attention for over a year and STILL entertain and captivate me as if i haven’t missed a day reading it, i love this series so much. kerri maniscalco delivered exactly what she said she would.

I love this series. But I can't help the feeling that this book left me wanting more... Nothing really happens to progress the overall plot forward until the final 3 chapters. Did I still enjoy it? heck yes I did. I think my expectations may have been just a little too high. Here's to hoping for a satisfying finale!

The info reveals at the end and the cliffhanger ending saved this book from a lower score. I had such high hopes for this one but unfortunately it just didn't deliver. Very little happened in this book to advance the plot until the closing chapters and I wasn't feeling much chemistry between the main characters at all. Chapter 17 was extremely problematic and I nearly DNF'd this book at that point.

Sommige stukken las ik er zo doorheen en kon ik er geen genoeg van krijgen en het andere moment snapte ik er geen pepernoot van en las ik sommige hoofdstukken bijna oppervlakkig.
Het was sowieso echt honderd keer beter dan boek 1, maar ik weet het niet. Het gaat iets te veel alle kanten op en als je nu aan mij vraagt hoe zit het in elkaar kan ik daar geen duidelijk antwoord op geven.

someone on here said that it “reads like an episode story” and i couldn’t agree more. in the best way possible. kerri delivered the fun i was craving from the first book. new setting, new characters, actual TENSION. good for her honestly.
