Wow, this series has really hit it’s stride. Each issue is fun, though different enough to stand out, with heavier topics coming into play. I also loved the additional issue at the end focusing on Bruno, because I was missing that nerd.

Kamala Khan is facing the aftermath of tragic events in New Jersey and trying to reconnect after her time in Pakistan with extended family. In this volume, she is trying to encourage more people to go out and vote, in hopes that more people will choose the less high profile, but more qualified candidate, rather than the two frontrunners who lack integrity. In the meantime, a cyberbully has infiltrated Ms. Marvel's Battlecraft universe, and she must stop it, before this cyberbully hurts those close to her or forces Ms. Marvel into an act that goes against her principles. In the meantime, we get a glimpse of Bruno's new life in Wakanda, as he tries to make new friends and gain confidence after his severe accident. I was so excited about the next volume that came out today, I went ahead and ordered it with the Amazon gift certificate my parents got me for Christmas! The new Ms. Marvel continues to thrive as the character continues to grow, and as Brene Brown would say, brave her own wilderness.

Writing YA for young adults. Writing YA for young adults and adults would seem to be harder. But this author continues to make it look easy. This latest book doesn't move the story far, it really just take Kamala a couple days in a life. End the main story of the virus is kind of trite. But that's not what the story is about. So instead it's who Kamala is both with and without powers, with and without friends and allies. And it's beautiful without being lame. And rings true and about high school and yet is still readable. 4.5 of 5.

The Wakanda part at the end was easily the best portion. Looking forward to seeing where that arc goes. The rest I feel was trying to hard to be topical and felt out of date. Maybe it resonated more for others, but for me it seemed a bit shallow.

Between the first issue in this being very in your face about voting (which I can't be mad about because tbh y'all need something on your face about that), Zoe being a lesbian, the main villain being the creation of the internet toxicity, and the fact that Kamala Khan is Pakistani and Muslim, this volume would instantly incinerate a dudebro.

This book continues to be one of the best in Marvel's lineup. There's some emotional and perhaps overly saccharine scenes, but overall enjoyable.
