Lies My Teacher Told Me: Everything Your American History Textbook Got Wrong

Good book so far. Most of this material has been covered by others and nothing seems to be remarkable about this "history". But for many who do not know the lies we live with everyday (as far as how we were taught history), then this may be new or useful information. I try to read books like this with the thought that history is not one story, it is really only perception. Everyone has a different perception of what took place and to tell "one" history is to leave another in the dirt.
I'm buying the latest edition of this for my kids!
I really liked this book. It was a little going at the beginning, but I did enjoy it a lot. I wish every teacher could read this, heck, every American should read this! The author really goes into how Americans have blind patriotism because of the way the text book authors write the books, and how racism and ethnocentrism has really grown because of History text books also.
Apparently I might have liked history more in school if we had been taught a bit more of the real story. My eyes opened a bit wider after reading this book.
The first time I read this book was in 2007. A lot has happened since then and I’m glad I decided to reread (read: scan) it. The quote on the front cover is so true: every citizen should read this book. Oh the myths we perpetuate because of the lack of critical investigations in our classrooms.
I read this years ago and loved it. When they came out with a Kindle edition for quite cheap, I jumped at the chance to get this revised edition. So far it has been just as great as I remember. Fantastic book, and very informative.
Informative, setting aside the title (which, while attention grabbing, is not entirely truthful, though he does address that within the book) and the weird, out of place unnecessary swipe at those who use "formula" to feed their babies. (Quotation marks are the author's, not mine.)
