This book is  centered around the murder of wealthy, dysfunctional couple Fred and Sheila Merton. As the investigation unfolds, all eyes turn to their three adult children Catherine, Dan, and Jenna. Each has their own secrets, motives, and reasons to resent their parents.
Catherine, the seemingly put-together eldest daughter, tries to hold the family together while managing her own suspicions and doubts. Dan, the struggling middle child, has financial woes that make him an obvious suspect. Jenna, the rebellious youngest, adds tension and unpredictability with her impulsive behavior and rocky relationship with her parents.
Lapena weaves in tension among siblings, extended family like Aunt Audrey, and the investigating detectives, creating a web of lies, mistrust, and shifting loyalties.
The ending left me a bit dissatisfied as far as who actually did it. There are several twists that kept me guessing.

like it more than I thought characters were interesting but the ending was sooo stupid and some plots were pointless

Creepy & felt a little like the show Succession at first. Keeps you guessing until the end!

Boring and repetitive.
Don't know why this one has so many good reviews.

I'm all about unlikeable and unreliable multi-narrator stories, but this was badly executed. Despite switching back and forth between all the narrators so frequently, only 1 in 10 of the short segments provide any sort of value to the reader. It's all repetitive and pointing fingers with rarely any new clues.

Got to about half of the book when I decided to skim the rest because it was all repeating itself. Got to the big reveal and found I didn't care.
Ending was also rushed and anticlimactic.
Would be a horrible movie.

Everybody gets murdered by someone, who exactly I don't care, film at elev-

While a not totally surprising ending, it was good to hear how the pieces all fit together and how it all ended.

This is a book about a rich family; after easter dinner both the parents are found dead by their maid...
The author succeeded by bringing so many aspects into this story abouth who could have done it. I didn't stop guessing until the end. And because there were so many aspects, I suspected nearly everyone at some point and was taken by surprise when I learned who did it in the end (maybe I suspected that person before but because I suspected so many people I already forgot about it 😅).
I didn't really like the characters so much but maybe that was necessary for it to stay captivating.
