Shari Lapena definitely found a niche writing domestic thrillers. This was an OK read but nothing to write home about in my opinion. If you like family drama mind you, there is plenty! I love that we get a whole cast of characters but, in this case, it was hard to connect to the them - I found them unlikeable and very cliché. As a result, I have to admit I wasn't very invested in them or their outcome. I also felt there were pacing issues - the beginning dragged a bit, yet once the twists started, everything went by very fast. As a result, I feel like the buildup wasn't as great as it could have been. The ending, unfortunately, also wasn't as strong as I would've liked. If you love her as an author, definitely still check it out but this definitely wasn't my favourite of hers.

A huge thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and Netgalley for the ARC for review. All opinions stated here are my own.

A very satisfactory little whodunnit, with shitty family members all equally suspicious. The writing was very clean and efficient and gave you just enough to keep guessing, while the shifting alliances between siblings and spouses made for great suspense. Burned through it in a couple of days, I'd recommend for anyone looking for a quick thriller with Knives Out energy.

Quick paced mystery that keeps you guessing and doubting everyone. No loveable characters here. Everyone sucks and is guilty of something. But who committed THE crime? The pacing of this book makes it a quick read that keeps you engaged with no lulls or needless details. If you like books that are plot driven, I would recommend this book!

This was so good!

When a couple is found murdered after an Easter dinner with their adult children, two detectives must find the killer. The children are "devastated" by the tragedy but they also are about to inherit a fortune. So what really happend that night?

This book is the definition of popcorn read. It was fast paced, entertaining and a page-turner.

Shari Lapena knows how to write a good domestic thriller, paranoia at its best. I was second-guessing each character and it was hard to believe anything that was written in this book with so many secrets, lies and unreliable narrators!

Read this one when you're in the mood for a quick, fun thriller.

This book was well written! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. It kept you guessing. Shari LaPena is turning into one of my favorite authors!

I love how Shari Lapena makes every character suspicious so you can’t guess who the killer is! This was an enticing fast paced murder mystery!
