Sometimes I wonder how Shari Lapena does such a good job about writing about actual psychopaths. The characters in this book are terrible and terrifying people, and it somehow made this book amazing. I hope she writes more books because I am waiting.

I listened to this audiobook and immediately forgot everything about it, but I think I liked it while listening.
ok look.. this was a solid "murder mystery" to me... i know it actually ISNT one of those cozy murder mysteries .. but to me thats what it feels like... the typical "parents are dead - kids are suspects - everyone hates each other" type book.
so if youre looking for that - than.. this is something i would absolutely suggest to read.
its still a good book, but for those of us who consume these types of books more often than not... It felt a little drawn out at times. I legit could not keep the kids straight. I just couldnt remember who was who, and I saw someone say it felt "robotic" at times.. and yes... it does. Some of the conversations were just weird.... not the BEST Shari Lapena book.. but still a decent read.
so if youre looking for that - than.. this is something i would absolutely suggest to read.
