This was so good! Oliver is such a sweet considerate person even after all he went through. It was a true joy to see his journey unfold. The meaning behind Lotus was a complete surprise and so worth the wait. I also loved seeing Tabatha get her HEA. After meeting her in Still Beating. 🖤

I read this book very quickly, and I really enjoy this style of story. It’s not just romance but also has thriller and crime elements, and there were questions right up until the end, so it was never boring.

It didn’t surprise me that his stepdad turned out to be the bad guy. I don’t think the point of the book was to shock the reader, though. The author spent a lot of time on that character, mentioning him often and bringing him into conversations, so it was clear something would happen with him.

But I didn’t mind that it was easy to guess the bad guy, because the book felt more focused on the romance, and I was fine with that.

I really liked what the lotus actually meant. It was sweet and sad, and it was something that had been in his mind all along.

The only thing I didn’t fully get was her sister. I understand she had childhood trauma, but this man was dangerous to other children, and I wish she had thought more about that. He even had more kids later, and she knew he shouldn’t be left alone with children, so it felt odd she didn’t worry about it more.

Overall, I really liked this book. The ending was good, and all the questions were answered, but the feeling I had after finishing wasn’t very positive, so I couldn’t give it more than 4 stars. I didn’t get that “I absolutely love this book” feeling, even though I smiled, chuckled, and teared up while reading.

I’m glad Gabe found his happiness, and I loved that they had a good relationship with the neighbor who saved them. That part really surprised me when she knocked out Travis! It was also fun that they have a raccoon.

I would recommend this book to people who enjoy stories with romance, a bit of mystery, and a touch of crime.

I love Jennifer! She writes amazing books ! But this was such a slow burn for me ! It took forever to get good in my opinion. But I know she does amazing work so I had to finish it and I wasn’t disappointed at all in the end . Just felt like a lot could’ve been left out lol .
