I received this ARC by Victory Editing NetGalley in exchange for an honest review
First, thank you to the author and NetGalley for giving me this arc! This was definitely a fun read. Blood Queen is a NA Fantasy that follows the main character, Layla, as she attempts to bring stability back to her kingdom after a slew of murders plague her people. Things get thrown off course for her upon the arrival of the foreign prince that she has been promised by her parents to marry.
The book was fairly quick and the world building was easy to keep up with. My only complaint is that the banter between Layla and Rune was fun, but their relationship felt too rushed and ran too hot and cold. I absolutely love an enemies to lovers, but the constant attempts to kill one another made this story feel juvenile.
Overall it was a fun read and after the ending, I am highly anticipating reading the sequel!

3.5 stars.
Although this story was entertaining; it was very predictable. Layla is next in line to the throne, but she is so fixated on avenging her parents murder that she doesn't even realize what is happening in her kingdom right under her nose. She was so easily manipulated by her advisor that she didn't even realize that she was a pawn in the grand scheme of things. Known as the Blood Queen who stalked the nights murdering those, she felt deserved vigilante justice; she never truly questioned why she did what she was doing.
With her arranged marriage looming in the forefront Layla decides to have one last night of freedom, but she never imagined that her ne nightstand was going to be a permanent fixture in her life.
Throughout this story Layla started to question the things she was led to believe. When her betrothed Rune challenged her at every turn. Layla in my opinion wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. The signs were literally right in her face, and she turned a blind eye to each and every one of them.
With a kingdom on the verge of rebellion and distrust amongst her royal subjects Layla starts to put the pieces together one by one leading her to an inevitable conclusion. For 5 years she left the fate of her kingdom in the hands of the very person she trusted blindly without reservation and now it may be too late to regain control of her throne.

Well that was a roller coaster ride…… this book grabs you after the first chapter and keeps you guessing on which way will the author take you…. You follow along cause you are so engaged with the story and characters until bam …. She pulls the rug out …. The end!!!
It’s a great book I wish book 2 was out already so I would not be mad at the author for a cliffhanger like that but I will forgive her after book 2❤️

Thank you Netgalley for the free ARC.
We follow Queen Layla as her parents were murdered and she desperately tries to find the murderers. She is feared among her people as she is the Blood Queen (she murdered a man who tried to murder his daughter) and people witnessed it.
She is to marry the Prince of Garo. As she completes killing missions and meets Prince Rune, she notices that something is terribly wrong in her country.
SPOILER AHEAD.
This was entertaining but also dissapointing. It had everything to be a great story but the MMC (Prince with a bad rep and strength as his magic) was lacking backbone. He was strong but badly trained and also leader of a feared Clan? How does that work. Also clumsy?
The FMC is supposed to be a badass but she is annoyingly naive (and has major pickme vibes). 25% in and I basically predicted the whole plot. It was not surprising and predictable. Unfortunately the writing was very repetitive.
I really tried to like this. 2.5/5

My thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book had potential. The premise, the setting, even some of the side characters, were strong. I liked the soul shards. Unfortunately, I found the main characters very lacking and their relationship far too superficial and toxic.
Layla, the main character, was far from a heroine. I love a character with relatable flaws. But, the way Layla was written - weak, detached, submissive - was not for me. Rune was a disappointing male lead. Violent, deceptive, abusive. These characteristics made for a volatile relationship based only on vanity and lust.
Much of the book is spent with Layla coming to realize that her kingdom is on the brink of ruin due to her lack of leadership in the wake of her parents death. The story is unfocused, the pacing seems off, and none of the characters are redeemable. I was quite tempted to put the book down after (spoiler alert) Rune attempts to murder Layla. Excusing that, justifying that, was a big NOPE for me. Unfortunately, the series cannot be salvaged for me for that reason alone.

First of all, I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher and the author for giving me the possibility to read and review this ARC.
I found Blood Queen to be a really fast-paced and enjoyable book. It's one of those books that has kept intrigued since page one. Layla, the FMC, is more than your average queen and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her kingdom safe. Tune, the MMC, is your typical morally grey MMC, which I don't mind at all. They had great chemistry. My objection was the depth of their relationship, somehow it feels based more on passion than deeper feelings. Still, I am waiting to see how the story progresses further.

I enjoyed reading Blood Queen. I enjoyed the interaction between royals and their soul shards (spirit animals). I liked what these relationships added to the story. The main character was a bit frustrating because she wasn’t seeing the whole picture, but I loved that she was a strong independent character that went to great lengths to find out the truth. I did not like the ending because of the major cliffhanger, but that also makes it exciting to see what book 2 brings.
I read this book in one sitting and absolutely loved it so much! I absolutely loved Layla and it was truly a beautiful journey of her discovering her true self. The twists and turns throughout the story had me so surprise and I couldn’t see any of them coming. Also that cliffhanger seriously had me in shock and I hope there is another book so I can see what happens next.

I did receive an ARC of this for my review and let me just say you will NOT be disappointed.
This is a very well written novel though I’m not happy with the ending! I of course want more.
There is plenty of intrigue, the possibility of a coup, deceit and so much more!!!
While it was a good read and I would love if it were a series with more to come, I only rated 4 stars because it still feels like something is missing to round it all out a bit better.

Spoiler Free Review - 4/5. Spice - check. Drama - check. World Building that isn't to overwhelming, easy to follow yet let's you get immerse yours in the world - check. This book has it all. I tend to rate books based off three different criteria 1. How much of a "need" do I have to read it when I'm not reading it? 2. How much do I think about if after I've finished it? 3. How big is the book hangover after? I couldn't put this down. It was fast past and only had a few spots that felt relative. After completing it, I cannot stop thinking about the ending and cannot wait for the next one, and lastly the book hangover is real. The only reason it's not a 5/5 is I found it a tad predictable in parts, yet in others it shocked me.
