Pretty average, I don't get the hype. I actually listened to the audiobook, I don't read it, but it's a hassle changing it on here so leaving it as a book. 

Wouldn't read again but glad I read it once.

Animal Farm is a short book, I thought I was going to finish it in no time, I've done it before with larger books before anyway, but nope. It took me five days!! I know it's not complex or anything but I was honestly bored even though it is smartly written. I don't know, it could be a personal thing because I did actually lived under a dictator regime for several years even though I was a kid. And when I think about it, it just makes me so angry! What makes my blood boil even more is the fact that there are pigs still being pigs in this day and age and that just sucks.. so yeah this whole thing depresses me.

PS. I've read this book for the charms extra credit read-a-thon. My first time participating in a read-a-thon!

I read the majority of this book in the background of a 4-hour entirely useless work zoom meeting and I feel like even though Orwell was a bit too early to catch the true horrors of 21st century late stage capitalism the setting really made a very interesting reading experience. You ever read a classic and get pissed off because you can so clearly see why it is a classic. It stays with you in a way that's not a product of its time, or accidental. Anyway.

This is a short but very good book. I wanted a chapter about what happened next or just a little bit more at the end. For this reason I did not give 5* and gave it 4*. Nevertheless it is a must read. I enjoyed the end of the book where it explained the struggles the author had in getting this story published!

• Salah satu karya George Orwell yang paling terkenal. Bercerita tentang hewan-hewan di suatu peternakan yang suatu hari memutuskan untuk memberontak dan tidak ingin lagi diatur oleh manusia.
• Setelah merdeka, hewan-hewan itu tetap menjalankan kesehariannya mereka di peternakan yang kini diberi nama Republik Hewan, dibawahi pimpinan seekor babi.
• Pada awalnya hidup mereka terasa lebih baik jika dibanding waktu sebelum pemberontakan, tapi seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, pimpinan mereka, si babi, pelan-pelan mulai meubah aturan/ membuat aturan-aturan yang menguntungkan para babi dan koleganya, bahkan menggunakan kekerasan pada hewan-hewan yang tidak patuh.
• Sampai akhir pun hidup hewan-hewan dibawahi pimpinan Babi-babi hanya menjadi lebih buruk, bahkan lebih parah dari waktu mereka diatur oleh manusia.
• Yang menarik adalah novel ini sebenarnya menggambarkan kehidupan di suatu negara dengan analogi yang sederhana. Hewan-hewan dan segala macam karakternya persis seperti karakter penduduk yang beragam di suatu negara, ada yang bodoh, ada yang pekerja keras, ada yang tidak peduli, ada yang pemberontak, ada yang mau dimanfaatkan, dsb.

I found it very intriguing but not life changing. I’m glad I read it, though.
