Very well written, very likable characters but I guess having read The Music and the Mirror I expected more drive and drama from the story which is, of course, is just a personal preference.
But this aspect did make me feel less excited while reading, this was still quite an enjoyable easy read though.

This is a audiobook that got recommended to me on Scribd, and I really enjoyed it!
It's a Sapphic romance that includes royalty and fake-dating. Princess Alice is the first member of the Royal family to ever be an out and proud lesbian. Her older brother is the heir to the throne, and has 2 children (twins) that are at the age where they need to start looking into schools for them - except they have a suspicion that one of the twins may be Autistic, and they want to make sure he'll go to a school that will actually fulfill his needs.
So, they call in Sara, who's a education specialist who may be able to help diagnose Alice's nephew. Except they want to make it as discrete as possible, so that the press doesn't find out before they're ready and cause a huge uproar (because journalists are vultures), so they come up with a plan where Alice and Sara pretend to be dating to explain why Sara comes to the palace so often.
And of course while they fake date they start to have real feelings for each other. Sara has a daughter and a career, and is worried about how her life will be effected if she is in a relationship with someone as high-profile as Alice is. So! Lots of angst all around.
My favourite thing about this book was probably the plot points that related to the children, and it's a different take on royalty romance that I really enjoyed.

I didn't enjoy this very much, which was disappointing. I have no issues with unlikeable characters but Alice feels like such a nothingburger of a character. She's a princess, has served in the Air Force, and that's kind of it. She has very formalised speech patterns and her the only reason I know she has a sense of humor and makes funny jokes is because other characters tell me she did and is and I have to read back what I just saw to find the humor.
The other MC, on the other hand, is incredibly rude to everyone, especially Alice. I did not buy that someone working for a school that is hosting a Royal Princess would be allowed to talk that way to the royal visitor, and even later she shits all over things that are important to Alice, such as memorial services for other fallen soldiers, while she's happy to take advantage of the benefits of the monarchy that dating someone in that position affords her.
I didn't buy that they had much of a connection or cared about each other in any meaningful way, which makes the life changes that occur as a result of that connection something I couldn't really appreciate either.
