This was such a special RomCom. Quinn and Minnie unknowingly crossed paths for so many years. I imagine them finding every time they “met”.

Easy, breezy rom-com. I would say that it was quite clear that the author is a fan of the genre and took bit from this one and bits from that one and put them all together for this book. I wasn’t mad at it.
Very closed door - I wouldn’t hesitate to hand this off to a teenager if they were interested.

I’m struggling to leave a review that doesn’t give away the romcom style storyline.
I imagined this book as being similar to One Day, in which the story follows two people year after year as they grow apart and together and… well I’ll leave you see to that one on your own.
It was NOT that story.
I thoroughly enjoyed the flipping of time throughout the story - present to past and back again. I loved slowly discovering how much the two main characters had in common, where it could have been just thrown in your face from the beginning.
But for me the best part was the relationships outside of the primary romantic relationship of the story. Parents and children, parents to each other, old friends, new friends, ex-partners… so many wonderful gorgeous characters and you can really see how they’re all interacting and growing together and individually.
This was a book I didn’t realize I needed, but I’m very grateful to have found it!

The book started off pretty good - despite the fact that this was clearly written pre-pandemic, but everything sort of hinged on the years 1990/2020 so apparently they couldn't yank publication. So here we are, with a book that no longer makes historical sense. I mean, we all wanted 2020 to be a great year.
Ok, so ignoring all of that, I would say the first 70% of the book was adorable. Clearly missed connections, some history of near misses in the past, absolutely cute friendships and periphery characters, but then I just stopped rooting for the Quinn/Minnie dynamic and the book went downhill from there. I almost DNF but pushed through to the end. I would say the book was 4 stars through most of the book and ended with 1 star. Sigh, too bad.
