The words these ladies put out into the world are among my favorite. Having them put words out there together? Magical.

I could see myself or moments I’ve personally experienced reflected in them. Words that are a beautiful show of encouragement — uplifting and powerful.

If you love poetry, or words in general, then I HIGHLY recommend experiencing the letter they chose to share with us! And the paperback version is to die for — the illustrations throughout it are STUNNING!

GAH. I wrote a pretty little review for this andddd accidently closed my browser window. Of course.

Find this review and others at Carlene Inspired.

Readers of Brittainy C. Cherry and Kandi Steiner know both have a beautiful, lyrical way with words, taking us on journeys filled with emotion that leave you crying in a heap. A Love Letter from the Girls Who Feel Everything is a combination of poetry and prose that touches on love, sadness, loneliness, strength, and heartbreak. I connected with many of the poems, either knowing the feeling previously or in the midst of the motions of one right now. They're each beautiful and unique, some short and some long, but all part of the letter that these two wonderful woman have penned to us.

"Maybe we should've spoken
while the coffee brewed each
day.
Maybe we should've stated
the things that kept hurting us.
Maybe words would've helped
keep us from falling apart.
But maybe,
by mistake,
we simply forgot."
Forgotten Words - B

I don't often read poetry novels in one or even two sittings, I like to reach for them on occasions when I need their specific brand of companionship. Whether it is romance, sadness, anger, etc, poetry books to me are meant for those moments when you need to know you aren't alone, that the feelings you have are not just yours alone. Reading this in one seating became repetitive, but I still found myself highlighting the titles of poems and prose that really called to me. If you are looking for a book of poetry that you can reach for, connect with, and allow to empower you.

*I do suggest purchasing the paperback, as the Kindle edition is missing artwork.*

ARC provided.

These were all so beautiful! I definitely found some pieces of myself in these pages.

I think this collection would be a great one to read every few years with different colored tabs to see what poems/prose speak to me in that moment in time versus which ones did now.

Enjoy some (but not all) of my favorites:

“I walk the tight rope,
heart beating
chest aching -
balancing on hope,

crashing on doubt.

To everyone around me
I am stable -
smooth as glass,
breathing soundly,

but inside, I shout.

Please don't fall -
left foot
right foot
capturing the eyes of all.

Breathe in, breathe out.”

“The elasticity of Time has always intrigued
me. How astounding it is that a moment in time can feel like it occurred ages ago and like it happened only yesterday all at once. Sometimes, Time is a friend, a healer, a lover holding our hand as we walk through hell. But other times, Time is an enemy, bringing us back to a time and place that nearly killed us, as if to just remind us that no matter how strong we are now, we were once weak, we were once broken, and we can be again.”

“One day she decided it was okay for her to feel. She embraced the scars from the past and allowed herself to fall apart.

In the morning, she cried into her coffee.
At night, she sobbed into her tea.

Sometimes one had to completely collapse for their hearts to be freed.”

“She's a summer soul trapped
inside a winter's freeze.”

“I'm not sad that I've lost you,
because the truth is I never did.
You're still here,
in my heart,
in my mind,
shaping the woman I'll be
when all the scars have healed.”

“Walk away. No - run. Run from the things that do not serve you, the past that does not define you, the present that does not please you, and the people who do not value you. Trust me, peace is found in movement, in discovery, and the path is never-ending.”

“Every sunrise
you're allowed to
begin again.”

“Her insecurities were as loud as day,
but his gentle embrace made the noise stay at bay.”

Do you know that kind of book that can change your life? This is it. This book is powerful, emotional, and oh so sneaky. You start reading it and in only so few pages you can feel it. It’s not an inanimate object, oh no, it’s alive and it will change your heart, your mind, your soul. Every page you’ll relate with something that happened on your life, something you wish had happened or something that after reading it, you’ll want to happen. It grows on your heart, it shapes your love and it burrows on your mind. Read it, everyone needs to.

description

Poetry is such a personal thing that I feel you can never actually rate, maybe review and somehow express your feelings but you definitely cannot rate it, which I did anyway because I LOVED it!

I loved how these set of poems ranged from love to heartbreak to romance to just accepting yourself (the poem referred above is my absolute favourite) and I loved how even though I have never experienced romance or heartbreak outside of a romance novel, the poems still managed to hit that spot and resonate within me simply because I've lived these feelings through others — in fiction and reality.

If you love Atticus or Beau Taplin check it out and snag a copy of it, better yet just order the paperback. So worth it!
