as much as i love lowry his point of view was such a slog, to the point where it detracted from my enjoyment of what is otherwise a stellar addition to the southern reach series. loved the prequel energy from this giving us background on characters we don’t know as well as control and ghost bird, it was just a real battle to finish unfortunately. the highs were high and the lows were low

meandered a bit, pacing felt a little off. def the most graphic and explicit of the quartet. very fun and funny.

the chapters narrated by lowry were nearly unreadable due to the fuck confetti. i got it.

really fun callbacks to earlier books and chapters throughout. a fun addition to the story but not necessarily necessary yfm
