Will be mulling over this for a while and probably need to re-read the other books. Liked 80% of the book. The last bit I started skimming, but did like the reveal. This series doesn't have answers wrapped up in a bow, so if that's what you need, you will probably not enjoy this. This series is immersive and gets under your skin if you let it.

So much about control, self, what our brains perceived, what influences us. So much disconnect which is the real scary part (and is an apt metaphor for what we live in today).

i have been reading this book slowly and incrementally for the last three months, and this is additional proof for why i don’t do series lol

that being said, i love the world vandermeer creates. nobody is doing it like that freak. did a lot of this go over my head? yeah, absolutely, i am a sci-fi novice. did i have a good time anyway? yeah, absolutely.

i found myself laughing out loud at some of the absurd moments here. my jaw dropped several times. this book is atmospheric, enthralling, and oh so weird.

i’m glad to have finished this series. i think annihilation is such a good standalone work of weird sci-fi horror, but i appreciate the lengths vandermeer went to in order to expand the world.
