How is Harmony still alive? She's so refreshingly annoying! Annoyingly refreshing? I love her and hate her.

Whooo... it's really heating up! I'm really enjoying the series and can't wait for Vol 6. Unfortunately, I thought I had waited long enough - but it looks like this complete story arc won't end until later this year or the next. *sigh*

This Volume reminded me of those quirky wonderful moments in the show. There were so many moments in here that would have made this a favorite episode of mine.

The whole thing with Harmony in here is ridiculous and it so work. I'm sure reality TV would love Harmony bites if it was a thing. It can turn anything upside down. Look who's president. This part of the story with the media and entertainment seems to have been a little prophetic. It is directly talking about the mess we are in now.

The best moment of the entire volume is the road trip that Buffy and Andrew take. That was like the ultimate moment. Andrew goes on his Andrew tangent about pop culture and they finally realize they have some geek love to share. Daniel Craig. Indeed. Really, why hasn't Andrew come out yet. They have plenty of lesbian regulars and no gay regular. It's time Andrew came out of the closet. Hello.

I'm glad Faith and her story are continuing on. She and Giles are making a fantastic team up. We also find out that there are slayers out there that aren't party of the Buffy pact and they have gone rogue. Dawn's story is finally resolved, although, we never see that Dawn was kidnapped until she is a doll. That was rather abrupt. Oh well.

This is really getting good and I think it has found it's voice in the new medium and the story is really cooking now. I am looking forward to where this is all going to go.

Of all the Buffy graphic novel arcs, this one's the Buffiest.

It's effectively just a solid callback to the series, when there were monster-of-the-week plots that only sort of advanced the plot but ended up having some fun along the way. In this case, we get possessed dolls and Harmony's reality show and we get Dawn back to normal and it's just fun and quick and straightforward.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that. That the series has been so able to shift between gears is a really solid point in its favor. Really glad I revisited this series.

I kind of miss the making-it-up-as-they-go-along vibe of the show; everyone here is a super-expert at everything. That said, this was a nice set of one-issue stories, with some bridging themes and nice character stuff. Very much enjoyed.

This collection had 5 individual stories instead of a big story, but was still great and tied together well. It was good to catch up with most of the gang - Kennedy & Satsu, Giles & Faith, Dawn, Andrew, and of course Harmony. Each issue really felt like it could have been an episode of the show, so very well done.

3.5 stars. This volume is fun, but also ALL OVER THE PLACE. There are so many different plot lines and locations and while it's a much lighter volume than some in the series, it jumps around so much that it's hard to keep everything straight. I mean, here's the basic gist of what happens:
- Harmony is back! And she's a reality TV star.
- Clem is Harmony's assistant/BFF.
- Buffy and Andrew bond over Daniel Craig.
- Kennedy helps Satsu get over her undying love for Buffy by pointing out that even though they had sex, Buffy's straight.
- Tiny vampire Hello Kitty doll rip-offs try to wipe out the Slayer Army.
- Dawn goes from centaur to porcelain doll, and is being held captive by a dollmaker.
- Dawn's ex turns up, and it turns out that a thricewise is some kind of squishy demon thing with tentacles who can also look human?!?! IDEK.
- Dawn apologises to her ex and is suddenly human again.
- Faith and Giles discover that there's a town in Germany that's referred to as the Slayer Sanctuary, a place where slayers who don't want to be slayers can go. Except it's not what it seems. Obvs.
- Buffy and Andrew track down a rogue slayer who's got her own island.
- The world decides to hate slayers after seeing one attack Harmony on live television.

It's just...it's a lot to take in.

It's fun, definitely. The art, as always, is gorgeous and the dialogue is snappy. And I loved seeing Harmony and Clem again (although I would have loved to see how those two met, given that the last we saw of Clem, he was hightailing it out of Sunnydale). I'm thrilled that we finally got an end to the "Dawn Gets Turned Into Things" storyline, and it was nice to have Faith and Giles pop up again. Plus, we find out that Buffy watches Veronica Mars, which is a spectacular piece of crossover magic for those of us over at Snark Squad.

So there's a lot of good stuff in there. But GOOD LORD, there's a lot going on here. A lot a lot. And I kind of feel like I need to take a nap to recover.

Re-read 2012:

"But the worst part was that Lee got really fat, and Dualla was probably all, COME BACK, BILLY, but he couldn't come back, because he was dead, so now she was stuck she with FAT Lee, and that was NOT what she signed on for, believe me."

Yup, that covers it. Enjoyable, self-contained nuggets, just waiting for the finale.
