What did I think? Well…I was not expecting this to be so emotional. Brittany Larsen did an amazing job of depicting what a caregiver goes through emotion wise. As someone who had the privilege of helping care for someone with Alzheimer’s I will say she did a beautiful job in this book. Britta’s character was so relatable and you just wanted to hug her. Her and Dex together PERFECTION! The side characters were also so well developed. I hope I get to see some of their stories unfold. I have not read Britta’s brother’s stories yet but after reading this their books are on my TBR list for sure.
Britta & The Beach Boy by Brittany Larsen is the first book in her new Love in LA series. It can be read as a standalone. It is also a spinoff of her Love in Paradise Valley Series where you meet Britta and her family. This book is told from a dual pov, following Britta and Liam "Dex" Dexter. Dex and Britta hit it off after and encounter when Dex visits Paradise Valley. Months later, Britta and her cousin head to LA for a change of scenery after the death of Britta's mother. In LA, she learns there's so much more to Dex and his professional surfing career. Dex realizes he can potentially make his Olympic dreams come true as an American citizen, but as an Aussie, he realizes it's not so easy unless he marries an American. Britta needs money to buy an LA Coffee Shop to live out her dreams. It's like a match made perfect as long as feelings don't get in the way. This book was perfection. I loved everything about it. The chemistry between Britta and Dex was perfection. I can not wait for more from Brittany!

“If that’s what I get for winning the first heat, what’s in store if I win the title?” I tighten my grip around her waist, wanting to keep her close. “I guess you’ll have to win it to find out.”
With the taste of Britta’s lips still on mine, I feel the same disconcerting sensation of being pummeled by a wave. There’s no up or down. Nothing else exists outside the pounding in my chest and my lungs grasping for air. But wiping out has never felt this good.
If you’d told me a year ago, I’d fall stupid in love within a matter of minutes, I would have laughed hysterically. Falling in love is not on my to-do list. Or my bullet list. Definitely not on my shopping list. But here I am, picking up a value-size, heart-shaped pack of love.
That will give me something to look forward to while I’m away. Because, the thing I’ve figured out this week is that pretending I’m not in love with Britta is as much a distraction as being in love with her, but not even half the fun. In fact, it sucks.
I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving my honest review voluntarily.

What a fun modern marriage of convenience story! I loved this delightful romance between a hottie Australian surfing champion & a cute coffee shop owner from Idaho. With lots of swoony kisses, close proximity, & fake relationship vibes, this delightful romcom kept me turning the pages.
Britta Neilsen’s worked tirelessly to take care of her mom & her namesake coffee shop in Paradise Valley, Idaho. After her mother passes away, Britta goes to spend a couple of weeks in L.A. with her cousin while her shop is being renovated. She’s happily surprised to find that the handsome surfer whom she met several months ago is her next door neighbor.
While spending time in L.A. she gets to know a fellow coffee barista who offers second chances to those who most need it & falls in love with the shop. She’d like to buy the shop, but it would take a lot of money. When the gorgeous surfer she has a crush on proposes a marriage of convenience & offers to put up the money for the shop, she has to decide if it’s worth the risk to her heart to follow her dreams.
Liam “Dex” Dexter is a champion Australian surfer hoping to make the U.S. Olympic team. Unfortunately, he’s lacking one thing, U.S. citizenship. It could take years to become a citizen except if he’s married. When he realizes he could help both his & Britta’s dreams come true, he proposes a marriage in name only. He’s been smitten with Britta from the first & hopes that even though it’s a business arrangement with no kisses or unnecessary affection, he can perhaps turn it into something more.
I loved this story! There were so many facets to both Britta’s & Dex’s personalities. I enjoyed that this wasn’t a cookie cutter marriage of convenience story. They both had emotional depth & really communicated their feelings well. There were some definite surprises in this one & I loved the ending where they have to decide if they’re willing to go the distance & make their marriage real.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story & am excited to read the next book in the series! Recommend to closed door romcom fans! I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author but also purchased a copy through Kindle Unlimited. All opinions are my own & voluntarily provided.

“And I know, as well as I know the ocean, that I never want this moment to end. I want Britta by my side through every up and down, through every rogue wave that may pummel us. Through the next three years and beyond. I want Britta forever, but I promised her I wouldn't fall in love. I'm in so much trouble.”
This might be a all time favorite book from Brittany! 😍
I’m always up for a marriage of convenience, but add an Australian into the mix and 🤤! Swoon for days!
We get chemistry from chapter one, and not once does it fizzle out and I👏🏻am👏🏻here👏🏻for👏🏻it!!!! 😆
The way these two were constantly pushing the other to chase their dreams! 🥹
And the last chapter and epilogue had me a little teary eyed.
If you’re looking for a clean marriage of convenience, with a hot Aussie and swoony kisses, look no further! 😍
