3.5 stars

I gave it a 3 star because I thought the ending would be better than how the first book ended but was disappointed to find out that it ended the same way without much closure. Loved the story line and plot with James and Carrigan but damn I need more of an ending with these books. It drives me to go crazy

After falling hard for the O'Malley family in The Marriage Contract, I was dying to get my hands on the second book in the series. And, you know what? I wasn't at all disappointed. The Wedding Pact lived up to all of my expectations!

Carrigan and James were wonderful. If you read The Marriage Contract, you know they had a bit of liaison during that book. They had TONS of chemistry and I couldn't wait to see what happened when they were the stars. They were nothing short of magical together. Not only did they have AMAZING chemistry, but they understood each other. Their relationship was also forbidden because of the whole rival crime family thing, which I've really come to love since reading this series. I loved Carrigan and James. It was really easy to root for them.

There's more than just romance to The O'Malleys series. Sure, there's plenty of romance and smokin' hot sexy times. It's about family and the mafia connections and what happens when all these things combine. There's even a bit of action and suspense in these books, though not as much in this second book as in the first. I just got a review copy of the third book, An Indecent Proposal, and I can't wait to read Cillian's story!

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

FAVORITE QUOTES
Once upon a time there'd been a right and a wrong and a clear line between them. Now everything was upside-down and backward.

"Someone's going to come looking for you before too long, so you need to be good and quiet so they don't walk in and see you taking my cock like you can't live without it."

The middle third of the book was very slow but the beginning and end were really good.

This is an exciting, suspenseful romance that will make you feel so many things. The history between 3 competing Irish Mafia families in Boston is thrilling and intriguing. The business they conduct is old world and have their children caught in the middle. This book concentrates mainly on the Romeo and Juliet style love affair between James Halloran and Carrigan O'Malley. Their families are mortal enemies but Jame and Carrigan have an attraction that they can't deny. James pursues Carrigan because she makes him feel grounded and like he can be a better man. Carrigan is finding that she feels safe with James for the first time in her life. Their relationship is sweet and sexy as they try to maneuver through the dangers of their family obligations. I felt so many emotions while reading this story. There was excitement, pain, horror, love and hope. I had not read the first book and it took me a short while to catch up but was able to thoroughly enjoy this book overall. This heartfelt and thrilling story with it's twists and turns will have you engaged from start to finish and excited for the next book!

This one surprisingly had a bit of continuity errors and other editing issues that is rare for Robert. The way other characters are led into is definitely worth continuing the series though. As I said with the first one, I have a soft spot for the mob stories.
