What a ride, it was wild, enjoyable, at times sweet, other times messed up but overall such a beautifully told story so much so that my heart sighs at the thought of James and Carrigan, I loved their journey.
I truly love this series and cannot wait to read the next book, An Indecent Proposal.

Thank you to NetGalley and publishers for this ARC. Ok so here is my honest review on this book.
Being that I did not read the first book in this series im not sure I missed anything? I will say I was able to follow along and enjoy the book. I am going to have to give this book a 3.5 stars. As i loved the characters and the romance between James and Carrigan, I for some reason couldn’t get into it as much as other Katee Roberts books I have read prior. But i think what kept me interested were the characters, I just loved them. I think if i read the 1st book it will give me a bit of a different look on this book. Still I do believe this book to be worth the read and it will go on my shelf once released!!!

Carrigan and James have some freaking tension! Having the history they have I didn’t expect anything different and, man, does it add to the intensity of their relationship as a whole.
“That’s your first mistake. There’s no such thing as a nice guy. We’re all dogs, lovely. Every single one of us.”
These feuding families is very Capulet and Montague which means Carrigan and James are 100% forbidden. I could not stand the fact that Carrigan’s father was trying to sell her off and we had to read all about those horrendous dates to the worst possible bachelor’s. However, the little moments between the two (Carrigan and James) were priceless. They had their secret moments full of that tension and flirtation that I could not get enough of.
“Her mind kept going back to the feeling of Jame’s hands-on her skin and his voice in her ear. If that was a sin, she had no interest in being a saint.”
As always, Kate Robert mixed plot with spice seamlessly and I really enjoyed this book.

This is the second book in the O'Malley mafia series. After reading the first book, I was excited to get the chance to find out about the story between Carrigan and James since it began in the first book.
Read this for:
- Mafia romance
- Just a hookup
- Enemies to lovers
- Forbidden love
- The hero being gone for her
The chemistry between James and Carrigan is instant. The thing that grows throughout the book is their immense care for one another. Neither one can get the other out of their heads and even though Carrigan is on a countdown clock to find a husband off her father's list, the two of them can't stay apart.
Their families are enemies to one another, but that doesn't stop them from forming their connection. James really shows up for Carrigan and that allows her to break down her emotional walls and really be vulnerable with him, and count on him. Expect more of the extreme fighting that you know comes with a mafia book.
I really loved these two together. They both wanted a different life, a better one for themselves and their family.
I do wish there was an epilogue in this one to know a bit more about what happened with them at the end, but I have a feeling there will be more of them in the next books in the series.
I enjoyed this one and I'm looking forward to reading about more of the O'Malleys!
Thank you to Forever and NetGalley for my arc in exchange for my honest review.

I was really excited for this relationship when I saw it building in the first book and it did not disappoint. I think I enjoyed it even more than the first book even though the first was utterly charming. A super solid mafia romance series that I will definitely return to whenever the mood strikes.
This is the second book in The O'Malley's series, and let me tell you, it's an absolute rollercoaster. Carrigan and James come from these rival crime families and let me say, their families hate each other's guts. But the sparks between them are insane. They can't resist each other, even though they know they shouldn't. This book is jam-packed with suspense, deceit, and sizzling romance. I was hooked from the get-go and couldn't tear myself away. Katee Roberts, the author, knows how to keep you on your toes with unexpected twists and turns. I wouldn't have minded a tad more worldbuilding and suspense, but overall, it's a rock-solid read. I am so freaking excited to jump into the next book and see what kind of craziness unfolds in this dangerous, intense world.
Carrigan and James together is a bad idea. But why does it feel so right?
I knew that after seeing them in the first book (Dark Succession) that I would love Carrigan and James together (despite him kidnapping her in the first book but we'll just ignore that part) Their families are enemies. His family is why her brother is dead. She's soon to be married off. There are so many reasons why Carrigan and James are bad together. Too bad they are drawn to one another. They need each other. They understand each other.
It was beautiful seeing them find each other again and again despite Carrigan pushing James away so much. I adored James's character development and his desire to make things better. I do feel sorry for him about the fact that his family is trash. I'm really eager to learn more about the rest of Carrigan's family. There was a lot of spice and angst in this book which made it quite the wild ride!
I'm excited to read the rest of the series!
