I liked this book ok. Just too many angles it was coming from. First it’s about an influencer who doesn’t like their life (which I’m not a huge fan of influencer culture so it was hard to identify with the character). Then it’s a monster romance. I think those two things wouldve made an ok story but then, much later in the book, the plot becomes about being the daughter of a mommy blogger and having your childhood stolen from you. If the book had started with the latter perspective, I probably would’ve liked the main character more and felt more sympathy to her situation. But it just started to feel like too much was going on.
I have about an hour left of reading but I had to DNF because of how frustrated I am with the main character bending to Chris’ will even though she doesn’t like him. Spoilers below:
First Chris takes you on a walk through the forest (who goes on a walk in the forest with a man they just met?) where he wastes your time and you walk in circles for hours. Then he stops by your house unannounced and forces his way into your home until you “convince” him to leave (???). Then he berates you in front of his friends when you tell him you wont allow him to use your property for hunting. Then he disobeys you and goes onto your property for hunting and SHOOTS your boyfriend. And your reaction is NOT to call him out, not to confront him, but to “step away” because you’re distraught? Bffr. I understand we live in a patriarchy but I wouldn’t, in imaginary or real life, behave that way. It’s so bizarre.
I like my characters to have some backbone. And not just let random men trample all over them. It’s a pet peeve for me. I hate when authors make spineless characters. So I’m gonna have to DNF the last hour.

Of all the books I've read this month, I never expected a Mothman romance to be the one to have me kicking my feet and giggling like a fool

This was not what I was expecting. It read more like a Hallmark show but with cryptid sex included. Personally not my cup of tea but had it been a fade to black style I probably would have given it 4 stars.
Minor: Gun violence, Kidnapping
