If you're an animal lover you'll adore this tale of Homer the Blind Wondercat. He climbs books cases! Catches flies in his mouth in a single bound! Almost put down because no one would take him, Homer's story is touching and amazing. Extra bonus points that, at the time the afterward was written, all of her pets were still alive and doing well. Yea!

Homer's Odyssey, while often sad, is also poignant and often funny. The book is about Gwen Cooper and her three cats: Scarlett, Vashti, and Homer, a blind, eyeless cat. I especially loved how the author would refer to Homer's fans as "The Cult of Homer"; it inspired me to start using the term Cult of Larry for the adorable son of acquaintances, whom everyone seems to love.

This story is as much about a blind wonder cat as it is about the author’s journey through her 20s and 30s, a move to NYC, and the meaning of family.

Charming story of a woman seeking her place in life, and the blind cat she adopted, who helped show her the way.

I picked up this title after seeing it mentioned on Animal Planet's "My Cat From Hell."

The most interesting part of the book is when the author describes being in Manhattan a few blocks from the World Trade Center Towers on September 11, 2001, and what she did to evacuate to safety, and how hard she had to work to return to her cats.

A fun light read if you like cats.

This book was wonderful!! Finally an animal story with a happy ending! The author's recount of stories had me laughing out loud which can be embarrassing. I think all animal lovers (especially cats of course) would love this book but it is also a generally feel good story that all readers would love. All three cats are scene stealers!!

My son really enjoyed the chapters that featured the cats Vashti, Scarlett, and especially Homer. I enjoyed Homer's journey with his owner Gwen. She has some fantastic stories of Homer's escapades and personality.

I do feel that she exaggerated Homer a bit; she anthropomorphized a lot when it came to Homer and the other cats. Her sentences and paragraphs were a bit too long throughout the book. It was hard to read aloud sometimes.

But overall, it was a wonderful book on this delightful blind cat who showed so many his can-do spirit and changed lives. Learning about him and all his adventures is worth the read.

It was a slow start, but midway through, I was cheering Homer on! Got mad at Gwen when she got onto him after the break in. The 9-11 part of the book had my heart in my throat. On the audiobook there is even an interview with the author and her huband at the end. Loved it.

An easy read, the story of a cat who is completely blind (in fact his eyes were removed as a kitten due to an extreme eye infection) and the lessons he taught his owner. Far beyond the usual amazing-animal-triumphs-over-adversity, this is a love song to pets and the ways they heal us and make us better humans. Just lovely.
