Don't read the description, it contains spoilers. But if you go in like I did without knowing the twist you'll be picking your jaw up off the floor for the last 10 or so pages. Fun! I agree it's for more mature YA/new adult audiences but it's a translation from the French so this should be tres expected.
The word for this one is romp. Buoyant cartooning lends the initial grim despondency a lighthearted note, despite the real despair and life-frustrations that are briefly described. Dead-end job, lazily abusive boyfriend, and no matter her good looks and whimsical outlook on life, our woman in red is going nowhere.
Then, however, the comedy of manners intercedes. What begins an increasingly less gentle skewering of the fragile yet pompous male writer, which is hilarious, and a look at the remarkable way in which life can change rapidly and yet not change much at all. The resolution that follows is equally lighthearted to the book's beginning. If readers don't appear to see it coming, they may need to give their own heads a shake and have another think about the menage et trois on the cover and think to themselves about the title of the book they've just read.
Ultimately this is a delicate and deceptively breezy read that ends with a laugh where it began with a frown.

this has become our book club’s travelling book thanks to Maja and the Makati girls, Jeri, Anna and Drea who have passed it on to us QC girls me, Ice, Shey, Lei, Mich and hoping it reaches Alabang and the Cavite girls next! 😎
it’s a quick cafe read that would re ignite your love or appreciation for graphic novels and it has a good plot twist and ending that we keep secret from the current reader until she finishes it.
so excited where and to whom this book travels next! again thankYou Anna for passing this on to me, till the next travelling book! 📕❣️

A charming, fun read for anyone who's swooned over an artist. The first 85% was strong, even if the ending felt rushed.

Grim beginning, but turned out to be a surprising delight!
