3.5 stars! I rounded up for this thriller. I enjoyed it but hit a lull about midway through the book, when I felt like I needed more information to be revealed! Had many strong parts and definitely had you wondering what happened and what the real story is. Part of the ending was unexpected.

I was excited to read this book when it released. All the Dangerous Things was my favorite book of 2023. I recommended it to anyone who would listen. I also loved Flicker in the Dark, so I could only expect this newest book to be better than ever. I seem to set this expectation with my favorite authors. Probably a bad idea.

I found this one to be just plain weird. I get that Lucy is the cool devil-may-care girl whom other girls secretly wish they could be. What I didn’t like was Margot’s strange obsession with Lucy, and her efforts to win her over at all costs. The entire story just dragged on and on in a depressingly dark and uninteresting way. I didn’t find any of the characters likeable, so found it hard to completely engage. I love a good twist, even if a little extreme. This one was meh. I finished the book in a little bit of a funk, which is a huge disappointment given my love for this author. I’m going to give her a slight pass on this one since the other two I read were exceptional. I won’t choose this time to lower my expectations for her next book. Let’s hope the old Stacy bounces back strong.

This was the worst. I tried and tried to like it for 200 pages, and I just could not attach.
