Second read: This is a complete five star for me on the second time around. I have no idea what more I wanted from this volume the first time I read it, but it's absolutely perfect and I can't wait to continue with the series.

This volume was fantastic! I finally caught up with all the previous Runaways comics, and I’m so glad I picked up this reboot! I thought it was going to be an alternate history of the original events, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it’s set a couple years after the original series! It’s absolutely fantastic. The art style is gorgeous, Rainbow Rowell is doing an amazing job with the story, and I’m super excited to see what comes next. I hadn’t realized that many of the Runaways had continued to appear in some comics throughout the Marvel universe! I’ll definitely try to catch up on some of those.

I only finished this for the sake of nostalgia. The first Runaways was great, but each subsequent one has been worse and worse.
This one barely had a plot. The dialogue was terrible. It just lacked in every way possible.

I’m a big fan of the Tv show that airs on Hulu so , I figured that I would give this graphic novel a try. Now granted I did not read the previous stories, but I really enjoyed it. I’ve always wanted to read one of Rainbow Rowell’s books. Now I had a chance to read her work via The Runaways. I rate this graphic novel five stars out of five.

Взялся за рестарт серии на волне ностальгии после игры в Midnight Suns. Решил проверить, насколько менее бесячей, чем в игре, будет в комиксе Нико Минору, которую я в целом любил после оригинального рана Вона. Оказалось, что такой же, если не более. И я начинаю подозревать, что и в оригинальном ране она была той еще козой, но я почти не замечал этого на тот момент.
Серия начинается через пару лет после позорно слитой концовки прошлого рана, который закончился безвременной гибелью одной из героинь и закрытием серии, которую на тот момент дописывали уже другие люди. С места в карьер Роуэлл оживляет погибшую, собирает банду снова вместе, и со сноровкой автора YA -романтоты, набрасывает высосанных из пальца терзаний для половины героев. И все это неимоверно БЕСИТ. Одна страдает, что бойфренд, который ради нее перевернул пространственно-временной континиум стал на два года старше и не понимает, что ее бунтарство умненькой девочки-подростка уже не выглядит мило в мире взрослых проблем, другая готова рушить сложившиеся жизни друзей только потому, что у нее самой жизнь не сложилась и она хочет вернуть старые-добрые деньки, как застрявший в детстве герой Саймона Пегга в The World's End. И не только жизни рушит, но и отношения, потому что Роуэлл нужны любовные драмы, а кто для этого подходит больше Нико-чертовой-Минору, которая всегда хочет то, чего не может получить и именно потому, что не может этого получить.
Короче 2,5 звезды, я очень conflicted по поводу этого рестарта и мне надо было выплеснуть разочарование.

I tend to have a hard time getting into comics (I really want to read more comics though, which is why I’m still trying), but this one really got me! I got into it fairly easy, I already care about all the characters, and though the plot in this one seemed to lack a purpose, it succeeded in getting me attached, and I can’t wait to find out what the gang does next!
