Okay
SO
I haven't read Mara Dyer in a few months, but I was excited for this series to begin.
I'm incredibly unsure of how this started.
I'm not unhappy with it, but at the same time the amount of dysfunction in this story was frustrating.
I felt like everything moved too fast without a ton of development
I want to know more about Goose, and why the sudden introduction but without any real information, but again he wasn't the main focus obviously. The challenging part of this is that I couldn't figure out the plot, was it trying to understand their gifts, was it trying to figure out why everyone's dying. I get the fact it was an introduction to Noah, but honestly, I kind of wish she included Mara's perspective as well, I feel like it would've been more fitting. I understand the idea of this series is supposed to be in his POV, but I just feel like there's so much more missing because he's not aware of everything going on, and overall I was extremely frustrated with this and I was happy with it, but there's so many things that I would fix. But I will continue the series regardless, because now I need to know.

August 25th ~ (3.5 stars) After a year trying to read this book, I've finally finished!!! Thank GOD! This was definitely not what I expected it to be but I ended up enjoying it for the most part and I'm actually looking forward to picking up book two. And yes, it's incredibly triggering. There is a trigger warning at the beginning of the book but if you're wanting to maybe pick this up, read some reviews first!!! It's so important that you have a firm grasp on just how explicit this book can be!

May 7th ~ I think we may be getting the cover tomorrow.... I hope so. GAH I'M SO EXCITED!

May 8th ~ told you so! Cover+chpt1 reveal today!! Omfg I'm soooo shook. I'm deceased. This cover is the end of me. Goodbye world. I won't awaken until November 7th.

What a colossal waste of time. This was supposed to be a "companion" series I believe to the original Mara Dyer trilogy, but instead it was a continuation of the series that ended over three years ago, and I remember nothing. The writing was filled with what seemed like typos, but I couldn't quite tell because it was told in the perspective of an English boy, and god knows all of the weird English mannerisms. The characters were poorly developed, even the ones who were included in the original trilogy. The author reverted back to what was the mystery of the first books and reused it for this one. I will not be continuing the series and I'm not upset about that fact. I highly recommend you skip this one.

Plot moved too slow for my taste. Guessing suspense to build up to the next book as this now apart of a trilogy. There are a lot of questions & an overall theme about who to trust. Highly recommend to read the Mara Dyer series first, or else you will be highly confused by anything & everything going on.

Quotes worth noting:
"Others come from places, backgrounds, where they're shunned for who they are - not in the Gifted sense, but in every other sense. For being gay. For being Latina or black or Asian. For liking the wrong music, the wrong clothes, for being depressed, for being anxious, or angry, or scared. For being who we are" (224).

"Privileged white kid - now officially an orphan - with a troubled past- destined to save the world. Come the f*** on, man. You've read that book a thousand times" (283).
