2.5 to 3 STARS...(I have too much love for this world to 2 STAR it for now)
I have such mixed feelings about this one. Sort of wish I hadn't read it, but now I'm too committed to stop. I loved Mara Dyer but this spinoff just felt a little bizarre and disjointed. The plot was pretty thin, minus the insane ending. As much as I adored Noah from Mara's perspective, he mostly annoyed me here. He was back/forth in his actions and emotions; he seemed like a middle school girl. I adored Goose and Daniel though, and it was nice to see the Dyer world again.
Here's hoping the next installment is better.

— “I’m not apologising for saving your life.” “It’s my life!” “And how many times have you tried to end it? Would you let me die?” she asks, but I’m not ready for it, so I say no. “But I never want to see you again.”
i dont know how to feel after i read this it became more interesting after like halfway through this book and i was also kind of in a slump when i started this book i always love my babies marashaw but i dont know how to feel after i read this book i dont feel the connection between them when i first read the mara dyer trilogy i loved the first three books more than this book and why did they have to break up sobbing
“Realising that there might never be anything new again—that I’ve told her I don’t want anything from her again, and she listened—that pain is next level.“
“I don’t have to live without Mara if I don’t want, not anymore. I can finally stop, put an end to it, reach the oblivion I’d been chasing, cut myself and bleed until there is no blood left. That would be an ending too.”
“Nothing means we can’t be together,” I say, and the words are hardly out of my mouth before a Cheshire grin appears on Jamie’s lips. “See? That’s your endgame. And hers. Alas, you’re the hero, she’s the villain—the star-crossed lovers, fated to be apart.” sobbing

It was terribly slow in the beginning and so unlike the former trilogy. I was disappointed until I got halfway in and things began to pick up. Only then did I feel the Mara Dyer effect that you only feel reading these books. I just wish it would've grabbed me from the beginning like it did in the trilogy. In saying that, I loved getting to read from Noah's POV and I love how she incorporated his English accent into the book. A small detail that probably could've gone unnoticed if she had chose not to do it. And that ending, though! 😱 Cannot wait for book two. November can't get here fast enough.
