The beginning can be a little hard to get into but once you get past that its worth the read.
Good book, but more sex than I expected. I was going to give it to my kids, because they thought the movie looked good, but I'll just return it to the library instead. The part about his childhood and then later after he became a dad were the best. Strong language throughout.
Even though I added this to my TBR in 2015, I still haven't seen the movie and so I figured I should finally check this one off the list.
This is an insane story. While I don't exactly like some of the comments made about women/sexuality, this book wasn't about that. The journey Chris went through was basically unbelievable and at every challenge and breakthrough I just kept asking myself, "really"? The lows were so low and the highs were so high, it sounded like it was impossible to be true.
Quick listen, lended itself well to audio because the prose is not the reason you pick up this book. Its style is mostly good ol' story telling, which keeps things pretty simple.
Read if you've got the COVID blahs.

MUCH better than the movie (shocker, I know). It takes more time to explain his childhood and teenage years which rounds out his story really well. Worth a read.

An interesting story of the highs and lows of life. It definitely opened my eye that no matter what you go through in life, you can achieve great things. Very inspirational true story!
Touching and inspirational. A gripping, bold and no-holds-barred account of Chris Gardner's life. Gave me many reflective moments...
funny, motivational, and entertaining as hell. This guy beats all odds to reach his dreams. A lot better than the movie FYI.Surprised to find out this guy worked for Bear Stearns and worked somewhat closely with "Ace" Greenburg
Based on a truly inspiring story. Chris Gardner narrated the story of his life and how he rose out of homelessness and became a multimillionaire stockbroker in Wall Street. His story is not one to feel bad about but feel inspired. He is living proof that you can do anything, be anyone if you work hard enough. Homeless and with a child, Chris faced some of the biggest challenges in his life that defined his character till this day. His patience and faith in himself were tested on a daily basis but he kept on going strong. Every day he believed in himself and took the longer/harder path that ultimately led him to his current life. Believing in yourself is the key.
