I loved this book even more than the first book the story and characters were developed even more than the first book. I loved the story how it flowed I even like the slow romance that took forever to start or do anything, but I loved it when it finally started. I loved how the characters the main ones developed more than in the last book I liked them even more than before. So overall I would say I loved this book and am reading the third book soon.
4 stars might be a little high for this book, but i couldn't justify giving it only 3 stars because i liked it more than that. there are parts of the novel that are a little too 'clunky' for perfection, but overall it's an enjoyable read. the world and the characters that populate it are interesting. the storyline meanders a bit but still manages to be engaging. i'm anxious to see what unfolds in the next novel.
The Exiled Queen picks up where the Demon King left off. Our intrepid band of heroes makes their way to Oden's Ford. Raisa and Amon are headed to the warriors school and Han and Dancer to the wizard school. Of course there are problems along the way but once they get to the schools the adventure really picks up. Everyone's favorite nemesis Micah Bayer is of course at the wizard school and he is after Han. Raisa just wants to avoid him so that he doesn't know where she is. Raisa learns more about herself and her abilities in this book. She is learning what she needs to know to one day be queen. She also learns that Amon has bound himself to her as her captain of the guard and that even though he loves her he will marry another. Han and Raisa meet again and start falling in love even though Han has no idea who Raisa is. Han is also learning a lot about magic not just from the school but from a mysterious Crow who he meets in the dream world. The end of the book finds our heroes once again separated and on the run.
I really enjoy this series. I love fantasy and this book ticks all the boxes. I think you have to read the books as all parts of a series. They don't stand alone very well and taken individually you can tell they are only parts of a whole. I really like Raisa and Han and think they are interesting characters. You want to root for them and see them succeed. I really can't wait until the next book.

So, I have already reviewed the first one of this series. The first one was a bit of a slow build, but what is great about the second one in the series is that a lot of the world-building has been accomplished, so Chima focuses more on plot. The world is structured, and now she focuses on moving her characters and really setting up the conflict.
Raisa does some growing up, and although she can still be immature and selfish and frustrating, I actually kind of like that about her. I like that she is a flawed character, but she is trying and she is determined to be better. I also think the development on romance in this one is a bit better, and some of the scenes were definitely filled with chemistry. I always felt like the scenes between Raisa and Amon were a little more flat, because you know that they can’t be together, but I think that pairing Raisa and Han works much better. Even though they also face obstacles, I think the layers between them really makes the relationship more complex and interesting than the one between her and Amon.
I also really liked that Raisa’s guards were fleshed out into their own characters, and I appreciated the fact that there were really strong women characters. Also, as a bonus, there were actually two women in a relationship around her where it was portrayed positively, which is fairly rare in YA fantasy.
Han continues to be a complex, yet sometimes frustrating, character. There were a couple of moments where it took him way too long to figure out something fairly obvious, but overall I was really pleased with the direction this book took, both in regards to plot and character development.

I really enjoyed this book, not quite as exciting as the first one but I’m enjoying the build and I’m looking forward to the rest of the series

Not a wasted word!! In love with Han and Raisa!! Ready for the next installment!!!
Still a little slow/juvenile feeling, but I'm still hooked and interested and I think it's building up to fun things (I hope)
