raved about book one in this series. The Demon King. It was a LONG book, but I couldn't stop thinking about the characters when I was finished reading. The same goes for this one. Although, I think I liked The Demon King just a tad better. The first half of this book was sort of slow going for me. Usually I devour a book in two days or so, and this one took me almost a week to get through. Now, don't get me wrong, I did really like it. The author just puts so much detail and things in the book, that I find myself wanting to skim. I resisted though, and thought it was a great story.
As for the characters...
Han Allister. He is awesome. Probably my favorite. He's cocky, but insecure at the same time. He knows he's powerful, but is afraid just how powerful he can be. His relationship with Raisa/Rebecca is sweet, and I know he really cares for her. I'm curious to see how that whole thing is going to unfold with all the secrets they have between each other. I'm rooting for them!
Raisa is such a great character as well. She's smart, spunky, and is always one step ahead of everyone she meets. I was sad about her and Amon. I won't giveaway anything, but I really do like Han better.;) I hope things get better for her in the next book. Her story ended at a cliffhanger, and I'm wanting the next book NOW! :)
So, overall, the storyline kept me reading. The last few chapters were awesome, just like the first book, but it is a long book, so just a heads up. I have the characters stuck in my head and can't stop thinking about what is going to happen to them, just like the last book. Another great book in an awesome series. Can't wait for book 3!

Still a 4.5/5 for me. It was better in some ways, kinda average in others. BUT SO MUCH HAPPENED AND I'M SO ON EDGE.

For all of you out there I have just 2 words: Boarding. School.

Hang in for the slower start to this book. The relationships get deeper and the settings come alive. There is some predictability, but it is a comfortable predictability. Overall, I am still loving this 5 star series!

I absolutely adore this series. I don't know why I waited so long to read this book! Although I'm glad that I have a copy of the next book at hand...which now I hear is book three in the four book series!

It has been a while since I read The Demon King but it wasn't hard to get caught up in the incredible world that Chima created and remember the fantastic characters that seemed like long lost friends! It's been amazing watching these characters grow, just in these first two novels.... especially Han! Love him!

High fantasy can be amazingly entertaining.... or amazingly boring. Chima is definitely under the amazingly entertaining catagory. These books are epic! And I don't just mean the size. You feel like you are on these journey's with these characters. That you're traveling with Han and Raisa to Oden's Ford that you are facing their obstacles with them and overcoming them along side them as well. Chima's writing goes well beyond just creating a fantasy world. It's addicting.

An intricate plot with betrayals and lies... forged alliances and friendships.... you never know who is trustworthy and what will happen next. The pages fly by much to quickly and you won't be ready for the story to end! I can't wait to devour the next book in this series.

One of my favorite fantasy series ever!

foi um bom livro mas nada muito aconteceu.
sim, tiveram-se vários momentos importantes mas que acho que irão servir mais para o contexto dos próximos livros.

I like that Rasia is going to military school. I hope that Han gets to see her and that they become a couple. I don't like Crow. I think that he is up to something and that he definitely shouldn't be trustesd. I like that Raisa is doing good with her training. I don't like that Han can't remember certain things. I am glad that Han and Raisa got together. I don't particualy like Fiona and I think that she need to settle down. I really liked this book.

This book had an interesting start and an intriguing ending but I felt like the middle part was a bit slow. It had some excellent character development and fun character interactions, but almost none of the political intrigue that I enjoyed from The Demon King. Princess Raisa isn't at court and is hiding as a soldier in training, so it makes sense that her daily struggles are different than they were in the first book, but I did miss it a little bit.

I also found it a little bit too much of a coincidence as well that just about every single named character from the first book ends up at the same place for school. The story does a reasonable job of explaining it, but it still feels just a tiny bit too convenient. It does make for some interesting interactions, and I did like the way the different schools were set up, but I still had some difficulty believing it.

There was just a tad too much focus on romance for me as well.
Spoiler I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Han and Raisa together, considering I liked Amon better in the first book. The issue I had was actually with the Amon/Raisa pairing this time around, because they can't be together and spend a lot of time being weird around each other and sad about it. I got what the author was going for, but I would have liked a little less focus on it.

Reflecting on it, I think what is bothering me mostly is that it seems like everyone wants either Han or Raisa. There's barely any characters their age of the opposite sex that isn't interested in them in some way, which feels unrealistic to me.

I did think it was a slightly better book than the first, because it focused more on the characters and made them feel more real to me, but I hope the pace picks up even more in the next book.

overall I enjoyed it..again..so many storylines and characters going on it gets frustrating at times but could totally get over it as soon as the action started. han typically kept me entertained and I even like Fiona some. raisa still getting on my nerves with all her love issues though.

I loved everything about the book except for the two main characters falling in love towards the end.
