I heard a lot of people saying that this is one of the most disturbing kids books, but I thought the most disturbing part was the author's photo on the back 😶
Graphic: Toxic friendship, Abandonment
Beautifully illustrated and interesting tale but it weirded me out how the tree was happy "but not really".

Would read that to my future child .The tree loves the boy, but the boy only comes to the tree when he has a need or problem ,the tree willing to make him happy gives him whatever he needs .but the boy is never satisfied he comes again and again and again until they both got old and now the tree has nothing to offer and the boy is too old he doesn't want anything anymore .probably the general idea is that u should be grateful for the things u have cause u will grow up anyway and eventually die so might as well just enjoy the things u have now before it's too late ,you only live one lifetime.
A wonderfully written poetry piece by an all time great. Silverstein writes with an unbound imagination and his poetry is beautiful to read. This is a great entry point into the genre for all ages.
I love how the tree is happy but the boy never is. I don't know why that is beautiful, but I find it so.
I taught children to read on this book so it holds a special place in my heart.
