Half Light opens with twin sisters planning to steal back a painting, a family heirloom, that one of them regrets giving to her now ex-husband. It goes on to tell a satisfying story exploring marriage, mother-daughter relationships, sibling dynamics and the weight of parental expectations.

Twins, Lia and Cam are going to Lia's ex-husband's Train's house to retrieve a painting he got in the divorce. The painting is a family heirloom beloved by her mother. Set in Atlanta the book packs in a story of a marriage, divorce, the weight of expectations of parents, and sibling dynamics into 1 hour and 20 minutes narrated by the talented Bahni Turpin.

I call these "small window" stories because they show just one small moment in life, but tell a full story.

Enjoyable short story with great narration.

A well-written little story to listen to while doing chores around the house or during a commute. Well paced with interesting characters. It keeps you engaged throughout to see what happens.

If the summary sounds interesting to you, give this one a listen.

I really love Tayari Jones and all her full-length novels. This one is a free audiobook from Audible and tells the story of two twin sisters who could not be much more different and their quest to right a wrong.

Amelia and Camelia (now Cam and Lia) support each other through Lia's divorce. Cam is her lawyer, and the only thing unresolved is the ownership of a painting that belonged to their mother that is now in possession of Lia's ex-husband. In the course of a night, the sisters band together to rescue the painting and learn a little more about each other in the process.

Jones is an excellent author, even in a short novella, and Bahni Turpin is one of my favorite narrators. This is a great quick story!

Amelia and Camelia are identical twins; but in appearance only. The two of them couldn't be further apart in personality. Which serves them well in their adult life when feisty Camelia ends up being her sister's divorce attorney. After Amelia and her teenagers have gone through the turmoil of divorce, Amelia decides that there is something she gifted her husband that she regrets. And she wants it back. That involves breaking and entering, so who better to accompany her than her twin.
I really enjoyed the tone of this book. Everything about it felt authentic and the characters quickly became people that I felt like I knew. As much as the story of the twins' sibling love was at times emotional, I also found myself laughing at parts. It reminded me so much of conversations that have and do take place between me and my own sister.
This was a story about family; those that we chose and those that we don't and how this particular family navigated their way through ups and downs. Really enjoyed it.

It’s amazing how invested you can get in characters in such a short time. Plus Bahni Turpin narrates. Win win
