can we talk about how gorgeous this cover is the copy I have is so ugly by comparison it's lame as fuck... anyway this was fine. I didn't love it but there were occasional beats that really drew me in. I love nakota's deranged freak ass I love her obsessions and her curious mind her sense of superiority her rudeness her anger..... wife material <3 and I lovedddd vanese's normal guy slay.... nicholas I did not care for you. except for when you put malcolm's head down the hole that was crazy... ultimately this whole book is about people getting crazy horny for a black hole in the ground. do with that what you will

This book blew my mind. I have read it quite a few times. Superior and creepy. Nightmare inducing.

A gaze upon the retched and depraved, filled with characters that I myself wanted to throw into the funhole. Ambiguity, surreal manifestations and self destructive behaviours had me wavering between invested intrigue and utter frustration. Honestly a great time.

I wanted to like this book, really I did. Having heard so many good things about Kathe Koja's debut novel, I decided that the time I found out what the fuss was all about was long overdue. Unfortunately, it didn't quite work for me. Something never quite gelled. Perhaps it was the disjointed feel of the stream-of-consciousness prose that just didn't seem to come together, meaning that the story didn't quite sit comfortably, for me at least, whether intentional or not.
