I loved this series for its beautiful and fleshed-out story world. Minya easily became my favourite character, but I loved all of them. The way grief and trauma was creatively portrayed through the dream world was fascinating to me. There was so much dimension to this story that it almost felt real, it makes me want to believe in all the fairy tales I know. I only wish that the book had a more satisfying ending, and it didn't say something cheesy. If it HAD to say something cheesy, I think it would have been cool if the epilogue ended with a fairy-tale cliché.

Tldr; Minya gets a story, but so do other characters that were entirely unneeded. For an almost 600 page book, it was pretty boring.

*dreamy, wonder-filled sigh* this book is a gift; one of depraved darkness, oppression, hatred, but also of love and imagination and redemption and a world - worlds - of possibilities if we hope for it.

still have never read anything so wondrously, boundlessly imaginative, and the eretz easter eggs are a bonus too. muse is a languid yet tension-filled story, but its plot still contains surprises. the writing is absolutely exquisite; laini can make you ache, amazed, or devastated with just a phrase or even a single word. despite having already read this once before, i was still riveted.

i wish every single person read this book; god(s) knows the world would be so much better for it.

I really enjoyed this book. It was a great sequel sand did a good job wrapping things up. <Plus, I love a happy ending>. Only thing keeping it from a 5* review is that I felt it got a bit too complicated, tried to do too much. Maybe this should have been a trilogy? The stories felt a bit rushed, especially after how long the first book took to get going.

I was very nervous starting this book. There were particular directions I didn't want the plot to go especially after the ending of the first book. Specifically I was afraid certain characters would be changing for the worse. While there were plenty of very difficult confrontations in the book, the author never let my fears come to fruition. The characters kept true to themselves and in most respects were strengthened to something better by the end of the book. The story conclusion was satisfying and answered most of my lingering curiosities as well.
My only issue was with the length of the book, which at times felt too long. Certain narrative spin offs or character thought monologues felt repetitive and unnecessary. Aside from this minor point, I enjoyed the book very much!
