All Olivia Taylor wants is to finish school, take care of her mother and have a normal life. It’s not too much to ask for…unless you’re in the clutches of a criminal who’s obsessed with you. Olivia needs a way to get herself and her mother out of Manhattan, and her ticket to freedom comes from an unexpected source.

When an undercover agent goes missing, the DEA calls on an elite team of operatives to recover their man. Luke Dubois is sure that the drop-dead gorgeous Olivia Taylor is the best route to finding intel, but convincing her he’s one of the good guys isn’t exactly easy. If he can get Olivia to trust him, Luke and his fellow operatives may have a shot at getting the missing agent and Olivia out of New York alive.

But desire has a way of muddling things and the attraction between Luke and Olivia is too much for either to resist. It’ll only take one slip-up for them to lose everything in this high stakes mission.

Seduction, sex and suspense — Elle Kennedy is a master at blending all three and MIDNIGHT ALIAS showcases her talent beautifully. The second KILLER INSTINCTS book is as impossible to put down as the first. Olivia and Luke are sure to wrap themselves around readers’ hearts from the very beginning. Both of them are strong, intelligent survivors who care deeply for others. Because it was so easy to fall for Luke and Olivia, I had no problem becoming invested in their romance.

While MIDNIGHT ALIAS isn’t quite as dark and gritty as the first KILLER INSTINCTS book, MIDNIGHT RESCUE, that doesn’t mean it lacks for pulse-pounding action. The intrigue in MIDNIGHT ALIAS had me avidly turning the pages, particularly at the book’s climax. I love the twists and turns that Ms. Kennedy takes readers on; not all of them are ones you’d expect.

It’d be remiss of me to write about MIDNIGHT ALIAS without mentioning the subplot between Luke’s fellow operative, Trevor Callaghan, and chameleon extraordinaire Isabel Roma. The sparks that first struck between these two in MIDNIGHT RESCUE turn into an all out fire in MIDNIGHT ALIAS. Indeed, there were times that Trevor and Isabel almost stole the story from Luke and Olivia. It’s not that Luke or Olivia were weak characters; Isabel and Trevor are just that compelling. Now, more than ever, Ms. Kennedy has me on tenterhooks for their book.

Aside from Trevor, Luke’s fellow mercenaries make me hope there are many, many more KILLER INSTINCTS books to come. I could write for pages about how much I’m intrigued by the secondary characters in MIDNIGHT ALIAS, but I’ll refrain.

MIDNIGHT ALIAS is a romantic suspense for those who like it hardcore with sexy-as-sin heroes. Elle Kennedy’s KILLER INSTINCTS series is dark, sensual and extremely compelling, and I can’t wait for more!

I enjoyed Luke Dubois and Olivia Taylor more than the couple in book 1. I was also excited to see Isabella and Trevor featured in this story.

Jim Morgan’s team was contracted to extract a DEA agent (Carter Dane) that has not checked in for over two weeks. The feds suspect that his cover was blown but they need the extraction team to get him out if he is still alive.
Luke Dubois, Trevor, Derek and Sullivan go to The Diamond Mine strip club, the last known place where the DEA agent was working, to see what club owner Vince Angelo and his mob boss Ric De Luca knows.

Olivia Taylor is a stripper at The Diamond Mine and the girlfriend of Vince Angelo. Luke decided she will be his way into the organization to find out what’s going on. As he gets to know Olivia, he finds out that Olivia is actually a hostage to Vic, and that she is just a college student trying to pay for her education and take care of mother, a cancer survivor.

When Olivia gets conformation of a murder by Vince by the order of the mob boss, Luke decides he has to protect her. It doesn’t hurt that he is so attracted to her and the mission is getting personal for him. Will his feelings get int eh way of their mission?

I was excited to see Noelle’s Chameleons back in action with Jim Morgan’s team. The female agents are just as resourceful as the men so I appreciate the lack of simpering females. There is a good balance of romance, suspense, action and mystery. In addition, I am enjoying this good story as it features the Italian mob, so this one came at a right time. The narrator had an even tone and she kept the story interesting. The characters in this story are developed well, so it's easy to feel connected to the series. I am reading for Trevor and Isabelle to address the unfinished business form book 1.

Did not make it through one fourth of this book. Too many cliches. I'll try it again later when I'm in a less thinking mood.

So, I've gotten into this series that actually does not have any paranormal romance in it. I'm still shocked. I am finding that I really enjoy this group of mercenaries and the action that comes with them. Of course, the books would be hard for me if they did not contain a bit of romance, which they do.

Midnight Alias is focusing on Luke & Olivia. The guys are on a job looking for a missing FBI agent who was investigating mob activity. The main mob guy they are looking at is a total scum bag and crazier than a bag of nuts. He imagines himself in love with one of the dancers from his club. She is absolutely horrified with how Vince has taken over her life but is planning her escape.

Luke, the southern boy sent into the club makes the connection with Olivia. Olivia tries to stay out of things until she finds out Vince has done some things that just affect her too much. Then she wants in on the action.

More of Morgan's crew is introduced in this book and I'm falling in love with each one of them. I don't think I could get tired of Liam and Sully. They are just so laid back and fun to be around. Isabel from Nicole's crew is sidelining for Morgan on this one, so we get to see a little more progression on her and Trevor's story. Which after the ending of Midnight Alias, I don't know how I feel about her. I'm kind of pissed I think.

Luke & Olivia have crazy attraction for each other, but Olivia is determined that their relationship is temporary. Big time daddy issues here. Luke realizes his feelings long before Olivia does and I felt so bad thinking of how she was rejecting his hopes that they could make it work. Unfortunately their crazy attraction for one another brings down a major problem. This problem was really a quick solving one, and probably could have played a bigger part. The solution though was very satisfying.

I am really enjoying this series and will definitely continue. I know Trevor's story is next and I'm anxious to see how the relationship between him and Isabel turns out.

well, i guess I now know what an EK book with more plot is like. She did a surprisingly good job pulling off the heroines ridiculous setup. I even liked her villain. but she misses opportunities to add depth and write more realistic reactions/ dialogue. I skimmed the 2nd half.
adventurous challenging dark emotional tense fast-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

MMC, a mercenary, and FMC, a stripper/law student beholden to a mobster, works to take down said mobster, among many other things. I like him - he's a sweetly honest playboy with some demons. She's tough/strong with an edge of vulnerability. The attraction is insta but the romance took time to build, given the mission and the intrigue.

I liked the way they open up and support each other, and that with her, he wants something more. Steam's pretty good! I also like the secondary couple who will be the MCs of the next book. The action is great though I feel there are a couple of 🧐 plot points. The sick mum makes it hard for me at times (had to lower my rating) but that's a me thing. Still an entertaining read!

Midnight Alias begins when Luke has to get close to a stripper to get to the target his team is after. It seems pretty easy, right? Wrong, Luke has a major attraction to Olivia and when he realizes that she's scared of her boss things start to get a little more complicated. Olivia has just been trying to get by with the life that she's leading. She's underneath a very dangerous man's thumb and she's trying to get out. When Luke offers her help she knows it is the only way to get out of this. But when things go a little crazy their world may crumble around them.

This one was not nearly as good as the first book in the series. The story line was very interesting, and it was awesome getting to see more of all the other characters and Luke.
But the main thing that made me dislike this book somewhat was the heroine Olivia. She drove me nuts. I felt like she was a major jerk to Luke, and the way she reacted to his help was so frustrating. Then she was too stupid to realize that she had friends on the inside too. Seriously, I really couldn't stand her. I was happy with the way it ended but it was still really annoying because of her.

Other than that I really liked this book, and I'm hoping the next book will be better!
