This was the first book I’ve read by this author, it was amazing. I loved the world building and the characters.

This does end in a cliffhanger but I can’t wait for the next book.

I do like the tie in with the previous series with a certain couple coming back for a small moment. I’m gonna go read the Beneath the Black Sails to find out what happens in that series till book 2 of this series comes out.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

adventurous dark emotional mysterious tense fast-paced

Initially I liked the story but as soon as it got into the thick of the plot it fell flat for me.
She was a highway women but as soon as she’s in court she’s docile and anxious and helpless???
I did like the banter at times, and I didn’t see the plot twist coming I’ll give it that. But I didn’t really care by the end of the book what happened and probably won’t read the rest of the series.
