I always expect a nice, heartwarming read when I pick up a Paige Toon novel. The Last Piece Of My Heart didn't disappoint - it's really lovely with a mix of emotion and humour.

Bridget seems a really sweet character and I enjoyed reading about her, and also Charlie who is the perfect male love interest in pretty much every way! Bridget remains independent and able to think for herself despite what's going on around her, and despite pressure she feels to make things work with certain people, which I really liked. There are also some far less likable characters who feature in this novel, but regardless I still found myself wanting to read more.

The storyline is at times - as with many books in this genre - a little predictable at times, and it has, many of the typical tropes associated with chick lit/ contemporary romance, but it's a really enjoyable read nonetheless. There are also some more serious undercurrents - mainly Nicole's death and how Charlie and little April are coping with it - so it's not all lightheartedness.

I liked the fact that the story included adventures in other countries (which I always find interesting to read about) and the stories about Bridget's ex boyfriends are fun too. I don't want to say too much and give away the story, so I'll just that I would recommend this for any Paige Toon fan, or anyone who enjoys reading about a bit of contemporary romance now and again, as I do.

The Last Piece Of My Heart is a fun, emotional, and heartwarming read!

* Many thanks to SImon & Schuster UK for providing a copy of this novel on which I chose to write an honest and unbiased review. *

Having never a read a book by Paige Toon, I was not sure what to expect. I have read the chapter sampler for her book and I didn't want it to end. I can not wait to get the book and finish off what I have started. Easily a book you can read in one sitting and that's just from reading the first few chapters! The characters draw you in and leave you wanting to know more about them and the scene is set beautifully. I'm already in love with Bridget and can not wait to finish.

I'm a little surprised by how highly rated this book is. The plot was incredibly predictable.

i loved this so much.
i love paige toon’s books - something in my heart just resonates with her writing style and characters so much.

bridget and charlie’s love story is without a doubt one of my favourites.
i loved how we saw charlie slowly grieving and getting over his wife nicki who passed away a year ago and how he is still an amazing father to his daughter april.

i loved seeing bridget get closer to april while she got closer to charlie, and in a way it was a love story more of bridget finding a family with april and charlie than just a love story.

this was so beautiful, and i like how they dealt with bridget having to be nicki’s ghostwriter and how she finished the second half of her sequel that nicki didn’t finish before she died.
i loved that she was a travel writer.

this was such a beautiful book, and definitely one of my favourite romances.
this definitely ranks up high with if we could go anywhere, the minute i saw you and lucy in the sky.

loved it so much.

The light relief you need

I'm a sucker for a classic chick lit story and this didn't disappoint. I loved Bridget's character and how she was captured by April. Was totally caught up in Bridgets friendship with Charlie. Above all that it's made me want bbc to go back to Cornwall so bad!

Goosebumps at the end, meant to save it for my holiday but I couldn't resist, my willpower failed me! Amazing writing as ever from the Toon 😜
