I’m 55% of the way done and I’m not sure I am going to finish it.
Don’t get me wrong, Leland is funny. But the schtick gets OLD and it’s only 55% and I am not sure I can do it for 45% more. It’s well written if you like banter. Or not even banter, one funny, ridiculous guy.
But it makes the minimal sex scenes not sexy at all, especially when he is calling dicks “willies”. If I had been dating this guy I would have dumped him a while ago.
Okay, I didn’t finish. I thought maybe I would skip to the last two chapters but I got sick of it again. The thing is, even though they had a lot of (one-sided) dialogue, I couldn’t figure out why Jackson liked Leland. There was no chemistry and all of a sudden he would do anything for him.
Also, who is that a picture of on the cover? I think Jackson but did he have a goatee? It distracted me. Yeah, this was a no for me and I won’t read any more of her books because I think this is just her writing style. She’s not untalented, you just need to be into this schtick and I like real romance and possessiveness and lust.

Cannot express how much I enjoyed this book. It had me in absolute stitches! What’s a PI supposed to do when he accidentally moons a dangerous hitman known as the Sandman who then begins stalking him in a weirdly adorable way? Jackson isn’t sure but he knows the Sandman isn’t the monster the police think he is…
Reasons I Recommend:
1) A hilarious rom-com about a PI and a Hitman falling in love while they investigate a human trafficking ring
2) Leland is hilarious and so all over the board and Jackson tries not to like him because he has killed a lot of people and
3) Crazy dogs, sex toys, and camera fun.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Quote 1: “Hi, Jackson!” I shout. He’s also amazing at jumping. Clearly, this is a man worth marrying. He’s sexy and agile.
Quote 2: “I do. Tell me about yourself, Jackson. What’s your life story?”
“Don’t have one.”
I grab my chest. “Oh no! You have amnesia? Well, Jackson, I’m here to tell you that we actually used to be lovers but after that horrible, horrible waxing accident, you forgot about me.”
Quote 3: He seems to get an amazing idea as his eyes go wide. “I want a catchphrase or theme song.Da na na na na Analmannn!”
“You’ve ruined Batman for me for the rest of my life,” I say, and he starts laughing again. The sound fills up the car, and for a moment, I forget that he’s on a most wanted list. “Fine. I don’t need your name. And I’m sticking with Sandman.”
Quote 4: My spoon-maiming skills are astounding.”

The Hitman's Guide, book one by Alice Winter, I can't help but enjoy.
Leland is so unapologetically himself, and Jackson can't help but fall for him.
I can understand why people didn't like this. I felt that same way during the first quarter of the book. Leland was way too much, but as he did to Jackson, he slowly warmed his way into my heart with his ridiculous humor. As far as how I feel about Jackson, I loved him from the beginning.
