This is one of the best books that Marissa Meyer ever wrote and I did enjoy this book, eventhough I expected to hate it with everything that is me. What makes this book better then all her other books?
Characters
The characters of Marissa Meyers heartless are done well I guess. In the beginning of the book I took offense to the mad hatter. By the end of the book he became a bit better but he’s different from what he’s supposed to be. That doesn’t have to be a bad thing but she took away from his character. Which is a shame since he’s one of the most important characters in Alice in the wonderland. Jest was more like the mad hatter is supposed to be than the mad hatter himself.
Storytelling
The book starts fun and ends good but the middle….. Jesus, that shit was LONG AND BORING. The middle part of the story was a merrygoaround of the same plot and that wasn’t wat I was looking for.
Writing
The writing is done fine, Marissa Meyer is able to write a fairytale but she’s just not clever enough to make the plot.
Worldbuilding
The worldbuilding was a spin on the original book with her own magic touches. I didn’t mind the changes.
I would like to recommend to check the triggerwarnings. There is a lot of fatphobia in this book.

Marissa Meyer has ruined me by creating this MASTERPIECE. Everything you think you know about Wonderland is taken and transformed into a magical, lively, powerful world that strengthens the ideas and preconceived knowledge of Wonderland. I loved reading this because it felt like home and reminded me of my deep love for fairytales. I now feel compelled to go watch Alice in Wonderland because I need to be back in that world of impossible magic. Also, Meyer did AMAZING at adding her own cute touches of Wonderland details that 100% fit with the world rules and feels of wonderland and honestly enhanced the reading experience. To me, reading this book was exactly what I love about reading: it was
immersive, a big world with a great potential for imagination, and a super captivating read. Cath (mc) was crafted to the Queen of Hearts' personality so well and her transformation from young and sweet to cruel and heartless is SO. WELL. DONE. I will definitely be reading this again and again.

I grew up reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and I have to say this book reached every expectation, I think Lewis would've been proud. Such an amazing writing I could picture myself in Wonderland once again and THE PLOT omg, it left me aching, I knew the ending and dared to hope
(like the fool that I am) damn, I will not be able to hear the word fool every again...thanks Marissa, I will be reading more of your books ma'am bc I do love me some pain.
