Just finished reading the book again. The first time was 4 years ago, figured the movie is out might as read it again. Love all his books.
This was just what I needed. Nicholas Sparks books and other cheesy romance novels are my guilty pleasures. This book was just that: a guilty pleasure. The plot is super predictable and the ending was pretty far-fetched and cheesy, but it was so cute! I'm interested to see if the movie is any good
This is my first Nicholas Sparks book, and I really enjoyed it. I laughed, I cried. I loved the characters, and the ending was great.
listened to it on audio and realized after the first chapter I had already read it. it's a nice quick book just like his others
I feel like the ending was just slapped together. He should have just stuck to Part 1 and developed it more.
I originally rated this 4 stars but after thinking about it for a day I downgraded it to 3. I love Nicholas Sparks' books in general. They're like a comfy old sweater. You know what to expect, you feel cozy reading them, the characters are so predictable for the most part that they're like old friends and even though the books might not be flashy or even book-club-worthy they're always satisfying.

This book was interesting in the beginning, I enjoyed the banter and few surprises between Gabby and Travis and I was excited to see what was happening next. However- I thought her sleeping w him and them being so "in love" after a couple of days was a big much. I didn't think her bf was bad enough to deserve being cheated on and that kind of disappointed me. Then right when we're about to find out what's going to become of Travis and Gabby *poof* fast forward 11 years and she's in the hospital and for about 100 pages all we read about is how miserable he is in heart-wrenching detail. Right when it's as sad as it can get and her death seems imminent SURPRISE she wakes up and basically it's like nothing bad ever happened. I feel like the entire book is just 300 pages that only cover about a week's time. I was so happy that she didn't die at the end that I erroneously gave it 4 stars but now I'm realizing that I think the story could have used a few more pages or a different structure to flesh out some of the storyline details. I enjoyed the book, like always, but in the end I kinda feel like I was shorted and more could have been done.

This was the first Nicholas Sparks book I´ve read and it was not a success. The only good thing about this was that it only took few hours to read. In the future I will just watch the movies.
I don't remember if I was a fan of the book the first time around, but I definitely wasn't this time. The characters all felt wishy-washy and had so much thought behind every single thing they did. It bothered me to no end that these two felt "different" to their respective partners than previous relationships for no obvious reason. While the plot layout of the book helped build suspense, it made little sense and cut out important aspects. The first 200 pages takes place over a weekend and then the next ten over 10 years? Not planning on doing another Sparks re-read anytime soon.
