Siempre me va a gustar la redacción de Nicholas Sparks
Oh oh, why do I do this to myself with Sparks' novels? SOOO CHEESY, and why does everyone in his books have to be SOOOO in LOOOVVEE and perfect and balanced and beautiful and athletic.
Gag me with a damn spoon.
(but I liked the ending)

An easy read that allows you to fall in love with the characters immediately. Their love seems so authentic that you want them to prosper and I was very pleased with the ending.
For a Nicholas spark book this was slow, dragging and I just wanted to get this over with. Now that is not what I read a Nicholas sparks for.
It's not surprising to me that this book sucked me in, but I was surprised (not sure why, though) that it was another very sad book.
It is a very typical Nicholas Sparks book, but for my friends who hate him, try this one, you might actually enjoy the ride.

I love this book, just thinking about it put a smile on my face. It makes me happy and I enjoyed reading it
i cannot BELIEVE sparks actually gave them a miracle
okay initially based on the "separated for three months" bit in the prologue and talking about papers having been drawn up in the epilogue i thought gabby and travis were getting divorced and i was annoyed when i first started reading because i ACTUALLY liked the couple. i know i've been tired of him writing these couples that seem to fight all the time, which of course their first interaction was not great but ultimately ended up being amusing, and i started really liking them. i'm also still tired of the "falling in love within a week" like at least a few of his earlier books had people meeting and having a relationship and falling in love over a few months but as i've been going through there's more and more Instant Love. it's annoying but at least unlike for example the jeremy marsh/lexie darnell series, this seemed like a couple i could root for
and i actually would've given it four stars (the only one who's gotten that high of a rating is the notebook and probably mostly bc i have a soft spot for it after watching the movie a million times) if not for the cheating. like. what the fuck. it would've been one thing to slip up, i'm more forgiving of fictional characters cheating than real life people, but like she kept not telling her boyfriend she's spending time with this guy, even when nothing had really happened yet, like there's not really indication that he would freak out at her for hanging out with another man, especially when initially it was p innocent (aside from travis' blatant flirting). and like, i thought okay kevin won't commit, she'll dump him to be with travis, but she just sleeps with travis for a few days or whatever before talking to kevin? she literally talks on the phone with kevin and doesn't tell him anything while travis is there and then has sex with travis afterward! i know we don't see a lot of kevin's character, but there's no indication he's a bad dude or anything, their relationship is just in a tough spot and yeah, he doesn't seem to want to get married but it doesn't seem like she's like, given him an ultimatum, which i know sucks to do but like. if you desperately want to get married and your partner absolutely doesn't, then it's not the right relationship for you! end it without cheating perhaps! so that whole thing made me really mad
also travis saying men and women can't be Just Friends......i know to expect that shit from sparks but god it's SO DUMB like yes you literally can be just friends it's such an unhealthy view
i think other reviewers were a lil harsh about gabby? everyone goes on about how whiny she is like generally speaking they're at least valid things to complain about. she's in a long term relationship that isn't going anywhere and she's being sexually harassed at work LIKE how are y'all gonna say complaining about actually shitty things in her life makes her whiny.
anyway yeah once i found out about the accident and the coma i was like okay so he's gonna have to let her die, i was really surprised he didn't get through it. but then once it said she was going to the nursing home i was just like okay yeah she's definitely gonna wake up right? but i still can't believe it after all the books with one half of the couple dying or otherwise having some sort of unhappy ending, i just can't believe sparks gave them a happy one. other reviewers said it was predictable but considering how most of his books include character death, i think it was pretty surprising lmao. i'm glad of course but the cheating was so ugly and really put me off, so. three stars like everything else.

Travis is a gem of a book boyfriend. Gabby, on the other hand is pretentious and obnoxious. I cannot stand her. The plot of this book is slow to develop. Also a trope that needs to be done away with is instalove. It is so incredibly unrealistic.
