It's definitely a sports book. It didn't hate it but it definitely would have been a better read if I was a baseball player. There was some jargon that went over my head. But the story of a man coming to grips with the death of his absent father was touching.

I really like Grisham non-legal stories. This was a very simple, straightforward story, but sometimes that’s nice.

A pleasant and quick read. Knocked it out in a couple of days. Good story, but nothing life changing.
Tells the story of Calico Joe, a baseball phenom, and an older, less successful player, Warren Tracey, and how their lives come together.

This was a very enjoyable story, much different than the typical Grisham novel.

This was my favorite Grisham book I've read to date! I have always been a fan of his work, but he takes a step away from the law-thrillers here and writes a story that stays true to baseball, but much more about a boy's relationship with his father and what happens to a promising ball player, Joe Castle. Grisham did a great job at creating characters that have such an impact in less than 200 pages. This is a book you could easily read in one sitting if you've got the time. Highly recommended.

Things you know about Grisham's books:
* They're great yarns
* You can't put them down
* They kind of fade to the end
* You can't wait for the next one
This was a great story about baseball, professional athletes, jealousy, spite, forgiveness. Grisham can really pull you in (although Calico Joe's stats were TOO out of this world) and have you believing in the characters and the story. He's the greatest storyteller I've read.
