This was such a wonderful conclusion to one of my favorite paranormal series. I loved the way things tied together. Full review to come.

This series = outstanding from start to finish! So sad to be finished... 😢 I read a lot of paranormal romance but wowsers this is the BEST historical / paranormal romance series I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to! Everything about it was fresh, and completely unique. I dearly hope the author will revisit this world someday..., The reader is over the top brilliant...

Today is both a sad and glorious day. Good news is Forevermore is out and we finally get St. John's story! Sad news is that this is the last book in one of my favorite series. HOW IS IT OVER ALREADY? I am not ready to say goodbye to this world and these characters.

I don't know if I've said this recently but it is seriously hard to review the last book in a series without spoiling things. I enjoyed the hell out of this book but I did have some issues with it. Aside from the main plot that revolves around St. John and Layla, there are a couple of subplots, one involving Augustus and the other involving Archer. With all the major players from St. John's family making an appearance, we discover just how much Augustus has had a role in how each of their lives has played out. I loved that we finally learned more about Augustus. He's intrigued me since the first time he showed up.

I liked that everything tied together at the end, but the resolution felt too neat and convenient to me. The ending seemed to come out of left field. Maybe it wouldn't have if I'd been able to reread the previous books before reading this one. I'll be the first to admit that there may be quite a bit I've forgotten. That's my biggest complaint about this book but it didn't really affect how much I enjoyed the story and the romance overall. I was practically on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how everything would be resolved and read the whole thing in one sitting. I can honestly say that I didn't see the ending coming.

What I enjoyed the most about this book was St. John and Layla's relationship. They were childhood friends who were separated from each other in their teen years. There are a few flashbacks from when they were children to help show how their bond came into being. Most of their attachment to each other had already happened off page, but I really enjoyed how they interacted together. They loved each other as kids and never moved on. Unfortunately, a lot has happened since they were separated and they're different people. St. John feels like his past mistakes make him unworthy of love and this is only heightened by his family's abandonment of him after they discovered his tie to Mab. It really irritated me that his family didn't let him explain but immediately thought the worst of him. It made Layla's acceptance of him even more sweet.

My second and only complaint is that Holly and Will didn't have an appearance. It's a petty complaint but they're my favorite couple in the series. I'll always want more of them. One book wasn't nearly enough. The only other couple who didn't get page time was Adam and Eliza but it makes sense why they didn't after the events of Soulbound.

Forevermore is the last of the series and it was a solid ending. I can't stop myself from hoping that with how this book ended that we'll get more books in this world. Maybe a contemporary urban fantasy spin-off set 100-150 years later? I just want more stories in this universe, okay? I highly recommend this series to those who enjoy a combination of paranormal, historical, steampunk, and romance in their books. The Darkest London series is one of the best series out there for it!

Initial Thoughts 6/17/2016- Oh man! I loved this book! I was sucked in from the first page! I'm sad to see it and the series end though. I'll post a full review closer to the release date.

DOWN & DIRTY QUICKIE REVIEW!

One Sentence Summary:

She’s his “human”-turned-demon childhood BFF in need of protection & he’s a sexual assault survivor angel who’s her new bodyguard.

Name That Trope:

* Mutual Kidhood Crush
* Reunited Friends With Feeeeeeeeeeeeeeelings
* Heroine To The Rescue, CAUSE BITCHES SAVE THE DAY!
* Big Baddie In The Background
* ‘I’m Tarnished/Sad/Broken & She’s Too Good For Me So I Must Resist Her’ - the hero’s theme song, probably
* Secondary Love Story That Gonna Smash Yo Ass Good
* Slooooooow Burn

What part made you fangirl squeal:

1. When our OTP be laying in bed sans hanky panky & gal asks to see his wings, so dude COCOONS THEM IN A WING-SNUGGLE-HUG <3 <3 <3
2. When our heroine totes kicks evil ass and redacted for spoilers
3. YALL! Grumpy Hero grumps about Layla’s suitor, then apologizes for being an ass-butt! *cue swoonage here!*
4. Anytime our couple talk about their feels; SO MUCH WORDTASTIC LONGING!
5. When Layla went full beast-mode as our hero’s protector! DO NOT MESS WITH HER MAN, YO!

Favorite Character:

Oh that's just cruel, making a bitch choose like this. Fiiiiiiine. If I had to pick, I’d say- BOTH HAHA I CHEATED THIS IS MY REVIEW FIGHT ME! For real, though, Layla is as strong as Sin is broken and I loved them both for it.

How smexy was the smex?

GET YOUR BIG GIRL PANTIES BRACED, YALL! Now the sex don’t pop off until the 3rd arc, but this slow burn gave us several hot kisses. While the scenes are few, THEY ARE FIRE! We get...

* A brief hero-spanking-heroine fantasy; yes, please, thank you, more!
* Sin undressing Layla while making out with her neck (from behind!) as he tells her his teenage fantasies of their married bedtime playtime! Hellloooo Flamey McFlame face!
* A HERO-GUIDED MASTURBATION SCENE COMPLETE WITH DIRTY INSTRUCTIONAL DIALOGUE!
* Pain-free virgin sex, guys. Pain! Free! Virgin! Sex!!!!! (Can ya tell a bitch is happy here?!)
* A Little Red Riding Hood big bad wolf hero-pun mid Hump Town that went from LOLtastic to d’awwwww-dorable!

Whose Line Is It Anyway:

Hero: If any of them so much as puts a pinkie on you without your express permission, I shall snap it off and stuff it down his throat.
Heroine, laughing: Saint John, protector of virtue and destroyer of pinkies across the kingdom.

*****

“Truth and promises can be manipulated into something as solid as air.”

*****

Heroine: You're brooding again.
Hero: I'm not brooding. This is simply my face.
Heroine: Be warned. The nastier you are, the more I want to needle you.

Got any bitching to do?

YES, GODDAMMIT, KRISTEN MADE ME CRY AND HOW DARE YOU, WOMAN!? Okay, I lied. About the bitching. A sad does happen [it ain’t really that sad, tbh] which made my eyes sweat, so this is me. Bitching about that.

Visually Depict Yo Book Feels:

Famous Last Words:

Dude. This book IS EVERYTHANG! Yes, it’s the last in a series, but fret not; you can read it out of order. Hell, I did, and look at me, I’m still alive! Parahistorical romances neeeeed to be more of a thing, and Kristen’s bomb ass, kick ass, glorious ass writing proves that. There’s so much emotastic OTP shiznit, so much cool world crap, and so much glorious wordage that goes down in this book that YE SHAN’T REGRET THIS READ!

While I really enjoyed this series, and this book, it wasn't my favorite of the series, and some of the events seemed too neatly contrived.

My attention was starting to wane a few books back because the Darkest London couples are annoying, abusive, and/or boring. But I do enjoy the world they live in and I kept reading, wanting to see how the series would wrap up.

It did so very neatly. Was it an amazing end? No, but this was light, fluffy, and just entertaining enough for a decent bedtime read.

oops. I nommed-nommed the heck out of that one. Buddy read, so spoilering to avoid her feed!

I really enjoyed it. I think it might haunt the inadequate reviews. For some reason, I went in with fairly low expectations, and I was loving it and continually waiting for the bottom to fall out. I don't feel like it did. I loved the way Callihan set this couple up, without the time to focus it was such a great idea to give them the backstory she did, so she didn't have to waste too much time with them learning each other again. (although those parts were so very very good)

I loved how everything wrapped up and felt 100% satisfied in the ending. I loved the secondary romance as well. And her other couple's cameos served a purpose, which kept it from being annoying (plus, damn that Ian is funny)

4.5...rounded...I'm not sure where. Happy to give this one a 5 star for the read alone and enjoyment of the series overall I guess...
