I went into this book knowing absolutely nothing about it and wow was I blown away! The multi generational perspectives were done so well and usually I find books like this confusing and hard to follow but each perspective was built up so well and once I knew who everyone was and their relation to each other I was completely hooked. The writing was so immersive and captivating that I had a hard time putting it down and unraveling the mystery of where Nell came from was so interesting. A new all time favorite book and one that I wasn’t expecting to become one!!

This was quite an emotional reading experience for me.
Linus was creepy asf and it triggered me so much that part of me wants to never read this book again
I was not expecting this story to be so dark. Like all her novels there are nods to classical books. In this one we have the secret garden.

I really liked this book but I was left feeling like something was missing. It took forever to conclude but then the conclusion felt rushed. So many other things that were started but not finished. Like what about the painting, and the weird uncle Linus? And Eliza’s body. I wish this book had cut out a lot of excess conversation and wrapped things up better.

I like how Morton weaves different time periods together to create a multi-layered and character-driven story. This one seemed to have too many layers, or was a bit overly complicated. Still very enjoyable however.

This sounds so interesting, but it failed to deliver for me. It has a very mysterious air to it the whole time, but it took my a while to get into. Once I did, I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop & was just left wanting something else or something more. Oddly enough, I would say that I really liked the language & writing style, just maybe not with this plot.

The Forgotten Garden is a multi-generational mystery that spans England and Australia, weaving together the lives of three women. When Cassandra inherits her grandmother Nell’s estate, she uncovers a decades-old secret about a little girl abandoned on a ship to Australia in 1913. As Cassandra unravels the mystery, she uncovers her family's hidden past, connecting love, loss, and the healing power of stories.
