This was a great story. Sort of a mix of Possession and the Secret Garden.

Absolutely beautifully written, fantastic book! It is definitely one I will read again. If it bothers you to read a book that is not written in chronological order, avoid this one: the plot slowly unfurls as you meander through three different time periods on two continents following several different characters. Once you get used to the non-linearity, it is just a magical story that is beautifully told!

This is the first of Kate Morton’s novels that I ever read and I love it as much now as I did way back when. Kate weaves such mystery and depth into her tales that it is impossible not to get lost in them for hours.

Es una buena historia, entretenida, con muchos personajes que se van entrelazando. Al principio la reacción de Nell al saber su origen incierto puede resultar difícil de comprender, pero durante la lectura todo cobra sentido.
He disfrutado la lectura de la historia de Eliza, sin duda la columna vertebral del libro.
Siento un vacío en la historia de la relación entre Nell y su hija, se explica en pocas páginas y creo que se podría haber tratado a más a fondo restando dedicación a algunas descripciones redundantes...
Y aunque me ha gustado y lo recomiendo, reconozco que el final es muy previsible.

I enjoyed this book. It took me a while to get through the story but that was more my fault than the book's fault. It is about a young girl that was found abandoned in Australia she was left by a ship from England.
