This book utterly destroyed me. I cried about 12 times throughout and couldn't stop crying towards the end I don't know how I finished it when I couldn't see half the words through the tears.

Absolutely it's going onto my 'most favourite books ever' list, such a beautiful, whimsical, cosy and completely raw, emotional story. The book I'd have loved as a child but it is even more special that I got to read it as an adult.

I think my students had bigged this up too much before I finally read it so although I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, it wasn't the runaway sensation that I thought it was going to be. A wonderful depiction of alternative lifestyles though which I'm definitely here for.

I cannot rate this highly enough. What a wonderful, beautifully written book about wild-ness, wilderness and being free

All the feels! Perfect for an autumnal read. Absolutely stunning prose. I'm not normally a fan of YA, let alone middle grade reading, and even though the audience for this book is that age range, it somehow felt very mature at the same time. A very meaningful message by the end.
