a bit disappointed.

I found this book quite superficial. the story is nice but it stays on the surface :(

I enjoyed Dirty English so much! Declan was an incredible male lead -- swoon worthy in every way. I loved their back stories and the way the author told them. I loved Elizabeth's growth too. This was a very rejuvenating read and I definitely recommend it!

I tried. I failed...at 30%.

Elizabeth is meant to be one of those quirky characters who says what she thinks and then goes all 'oohhh look at me, never mind, I shouldn't have said that'. I hate those kind of people.

The dialogue was cringe and bar the name didn't really see the P&P reference.

This was super angsty but considering both their backgrounds it made sense and fit with the story. Elizabeth's tragic back-story was really sad and unfortunately something that is far to common, she was trying to struggle though but it was still impacting her, I liked that Declan gave her the space she needed to deal. It did annoy me that she seemed to need a man to help her pull her life back together though.

I didn't fully believe in them as characters either, Declan seemed too perceptive, he seemed to know exactly what Elizabeth was thinking right from the start. Elizabeth just felt a bit like a stereotype. Their connection happens really quickly as well, it was pretty much instalove and she completely opens up to him quickly, which didn't really fit in with how she was acting otherwise.

So, so cliché. This story has one too many bad romance novel tropes incorporated.

Deja vu...now, I don’t think I read this exact book, because the book I’m thinking off I would’ve found on goodreads, so wouldn’t it be marked? Or at least in my iTunes already? Also, there were elements that were different...but holy deja vu I’ve read this book before.

If it weren’t for that feeling, I probably would’ve loved this. I loved their interactions and how realistic her reactions to her trauma were...but at the end of the day...I’ve read almost this exact same book before, I just know it.
