Jaime's Review
I feel like I'll be in the minority here but this story was just okay for me. I enjoyed the premise of the story and the characters were likeable but I just never fully connected to them.

Declan was sexy as fuck and the way he wanted to protect and heal Elizabeth's heart was so sweet and swoon worthy. He really made the story for me. I just feel like I never fully got to know him on a deeper level. It was the same for Elizabeth. I liked her and felt for her because of what happened to her but I think that I never fully understood or believed her hatred for violence and struggle with how easily she seemed to accept it after she was so against it for so long.

In the same way that I felt like I could've known more about Elizabeth and Declan on a deeper level, there were parts of the story that felt unnecessary to me. I can understand the friendship between Blake and Elizabeth but I don't think that it was crucial to the story or had a big impact on the story. I can see where it could have and maybe was even meant to, but it fell short for me. I don't normally wish for more drama in books but I sort of wish that this one had prolonged it.

This is my first time reading this author, although I own all of her other books, and I definitely see myself reading more from her. I'm actually really hoping for Dax's story because, strangely, I connected with him more than anyone else in this book.

*I received an ARC from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review

I loved Declan! He was the perfect guy. I couldn't get over how the tables were turned for once. Declan wanted more, while Elizabeth was the one running. Honestly the girl got on my last nerve with all her drama and hot and cold. That is why the rating is so low. It could of been better, but just wasn't hitting it's mark in my opinion.
P.S. maybe I'm blind but I didn't really see the parallels to Pride and Prejudice...?

You can try but you can’t fight love. Declan and Elizabeth do what they can to try and push each other away but they keep coming back together.

A solid and thoroughly enjoyable story that managed to not be clichéd. No grand unveiling of secrets with it or too difficult a journey, but overall a good book to settle in with.

Another great, witty romance by Ilsa Madden-Mills! The characters are people you can identify with, and the storyline has a very realistic picture of the struggle with what happens to the main character. It’s a very well rounded read! Already moved on to the next one in the series!

This was a fairly small book I read it in about a day divided between a night and the next day. I really enjoy books I can read the quickly, but also it not feel rushed.

That's what I liked about this book I felt I got a good enough story and ending. Enjoyable.

I loved Declan a true romantic at heart. The heroine not so much, so was OK. She just pushed him away to much after she realized she likes Declan. And it may be because I always like to think what would I do in their situation. I'm sorry to say but I would have told Declan right after I realized my feelings. I would definitely have felt safer with him knowing duh, total roll my eyes moment when she wouldn't tell him about the blackmail deal.

But just like movies, that's what I like about fiction it's not real life and wouldn't be any good if it didn't have that extra angst and drama sometimes, and that's what I felt with this book.
