DNF at 30%

I found it so boring. There was too many POV’s (5) and they all had their own storyline. It was too much to follow and I couldn’t get into it.

Ir was impossible to connect with the characters because I didn’t get enough time with them to be able to understand them before it moved on to the next.

I'm absolutely gutted because this was one of my most anticipated new releases.

Character Analysis

RJ:
He's very witty. Like he's proper intelligent, what with his hacking skills and stuff. Anti-social. Major introvert. Hates emotional stuff. Attachment issues. But bro's crazy loyal.
He's not ur typical bad boy. He's also not the good boy type. He's the utterly carefree person who just can't be bothered with people, places, and stuff. It's not that he's high on ego. In fact I ate up all his self-depreciating jokes. You can never glad him into stuff. He only gives in when he's done with shit, and just wants to get it over with.
Very flirty. Dude's got game. But this is a side of him that's polar contrary to his usually anti-social self.

Sloane:
Spitfire. You cannot mess with her. Miss knows her place and her worth. She'll call you out of u don't treat her right. Love a woman with sufficient self-respect. Fierce mother hen when it comes to her baby sis. But at this point she's been carrying a little too much on her plate for a little too long now.
Drop dead gorgeous. And equal parts vicious. But not like in a toxic way.

Fenn:
He's my baby y'all. Also on the path to self-destruct. But he's adorable. Not the dark and broody type. He actually comes off as a dorky, sunshine and rainbows kinda guy. One who just cannot take things seriously. Well, except maybe his feelings for Casey.

Casey:
Hmmm you're typical goody two shoes. Sloane's baby sis. Been through a traumatizing accident. She's the type to always see the good in people.

Lawson:
Your typical f-boy on his single minded path to self-destruct. And my toxic self is already caring for him. Bro's seriously messed up tho. I loved his dynamic with RJ.

Silas:
He's a genuinely good guy with a good semblance of maturity. And of course my stupid self isn't that very much excited/impressed with him.

Random Notes

Fenn x RJ stepbro duo is seriously unmatched.

Ik this isn't a fantasy series, but damn it if I ain't in love with this highschool world building. I am just enjoying getting to know the characters, and their routines and lives! Like ik to some this whole multiple POV things might put a damper on the pace. But I personally enjoyed. Maybe bcoz I've always liked Ms. Kennedy's writing style and 9 out of 10 times I've grown to care about her characters, so I'm always happy to get to know new ones. And these guys, why, I might even risk admitting that maybe they have more depth and complexity than the Off-Campus/ Briar U guys.

Fenn x Casey are bloody cute I'm telling you. And that makes me nervous coz I already have high expectations for their book.

Girl, Sloane is one bad bitch. You don't mess with her.

RJ x Sloane convos, banter, and jabs has become my staple.

I also admire this weird respect and concern that each of these characters have for another particular character(s).
Like Fenn with RJ. Silas with Lawson. It's just maddeningly adorable. And weirdly wholesome.

Shiiiiiitttt I LOVE RJ WITH SLOANE. I just do! I love how she's such a spitfire and I love how he never backs down either. Just absolute perfection, people. Absolute perfection.

Lawson u lil' bishhh.

Duke x RJ. RJ preparing for it. The other guys' role in the whole thing. Ig I'm living for this now.
