I didn't become very emotionally attatched to the main characters because so much else was happening and so I didn't really care what happened in their relationship. I felt like Lawson's POV was so unnecessary and I really disliked the plot explored. Low-key interested by the ending but don't know if I'll read the next one.

Sadly, my least favorite of Elle Kennedy’s. I just didn’t find any of the characters all that likeable or compelling. Unfortunately, a cliffhanger always gets me so I will be reading the sequel

Too many POVs, no distinct personalities among them. This should’ve been aged up.
I wasnt expecting so much smexy times in a younger adult book. With that being said, I enjoyed the multiple POV. There are a few characters I want to get to know more about. Lawson is way too wild for a high school senior though. Whew. The things he does. But, I aged him up in my mind too to be more in his late 20s so I didnt feel so dirty.
This book is EVERYTHING! Drama, romance, rich kids behaving badly—it’s like Gossip Girl meets Cruel Intentions, and I’m obsessed. Elle Kennedy absolutely nails this prep-school romance with a rebellious twist.
Why I Loved It:
- RJ Shaw: Total bad boy with a hacker edge. He’s snarky, confident, and a little broken, which makes him so easy to root for. His sarcastic humor? Chef’s kiss.
- Sloane Tresscott: Headmaster’s daughter with an icy vibe but so much depth. She’s bold, doesn’t play games, and her banter with RJ is fire.
- The forbidden romance: RJ + Sloane = forbidden gold. Their chemistry is electric, and the slow build kept me hooked from the start.
- The Sandover crew: Multiple POVs usually scare me, but this time it WORKS. Fenn, Silas, and Lawson add so much to the story. Lawson’s chaotic energy had me laughing out loud, and I can’t wait to read more about these misfits.
- All the drama: Secret hookups, power struggles, and shady pasts—I was living for it all. The ending left me reeling (seriously, WHAT just happened?), and now I need the next book like yesterday.
Favorite Moments:
- RJ and Sloane’s first meeting in the woods. Instant sparks.
- The "pranks" between Duke and RJ—pure tension and chaos.
- That jaw-dropping ending. I’m still processing.
Why It’s 5 Stars:
Elle Kennedy brings the perfect mix of humor, angst, and heart. The friendships feel real, the romance is swoon-worthy, and the plot twists are chef’s kiss.
Final Thoughts:
If you love forbidden romance with edgy vibes and characters you can’t get enough of, Misfit is a must-read. RJ and Sloane’s story is addictive, and the whole Sandover Prep crew promises endless drama and fun. Bring on book two!
