I had really high hopes for this book and while it was still entertaining, it definitely fell short of those expectations. The pacing was all over the place and there were random details thrown in that were entirely unnecessary.
I saw people saying this was a slow burn, but I think it was just too slow. For most of the book, nothing is happening.

Shitnuts, I DNF this book. I tried, I couldn’t do it for the same reason so many others DNF’d it.
I really liked this mystery because it stayed in one person’s POV: Lena, the sister of the murder victim who tries to find out what really happened to her estranged sibling. I’m tired of jumping around in multiple POV as a way of creating suspense. The tension was sufficient as the story unfolds because of the growing understanding of Lena. She encounters numerous plot twists on her inexpert journey to the truth about her famous sister’s demise and the role her family and friends may have played in it.

This one feels more rushed towards the end of the story.
I sluggishly endured reading this lackluster, boring novel just because I paid for it through my BOTM subscription. If the word “sh**nuts” was used one more time, I would have heaved this book right across the room. Slow pace; forgettable, one-dimensional characters; and a ridiculous resolution with no real motive made this a definite fail for me.
